you can still get herpes from oral. HSV1 can be found both orally and genitally. Now it is more common orally but is very common on and in genitals that have been exposed. HSV2 is found on the genitals more often than orally but in rare cases can be found orally. over 87% of people infect genitally with HSV1 or HSV2 do not know they are infected. the only real differences between the two are outbreaks per year and the severity of the outbreaks. HSV1 outbreaks 1-4 times a year. HSV2 outbreaks 4-6 times a year but can out break more depending on stress levels and diet habits. best bet is to go see a doctor for a full sti/std panel with HSV testing included, but you have to ask for HSV testing it is not normally included. blood testing takes anywhere from 3-6 months to produces a good reading. but if you have active lesions or ulcers, you can ask for a culture (swab) to be taken. a culture test from an active (not healing or scabbed) ulcer or lesion has a 98% accurate reading. dont panic until you know from a medical provider. all anyone online can do is give an opinion. even if you are positive it isnt the end if the world. HSV 1 or HSV 2 is not deadly. it is a simple virus that hides in the nerves and causes a skin infection. other std/sti can kill you, HSV will and cannot.
