if its lichen sclorous it will have little white blisters that really itch . i had it but mine cleared up i went to my gyn dr and she did a biopsy on 4 little places thats how i found out i had it. they gave me aclob steroid cram to use 2 times a day and for the itching i sat in warm water with baking soda and borax laundry soap. i usually use 1 tablespoon of each you can try that for the itching

    Hello Jess

im sure its difficult to go see someone. usually by the time you do see your GYN doctor it's cleared up. Go see ir GYM doctor if he/she cant diagnose you ask to be referred to a dermatologist. We can't diagnose you.

Good puck and know uou're not alone.

    Hi Jess,

Very important question- is that area very itchy or is it just a little whiter than the surrounding skin?

I suspect it's simply vitiligo if she's not particularly itchy over that area.

If it's very itchy and is easily irritated by washing or clothes rubbing the area or even touch it's likely to be LS. You can also distinguish LS from vitiligo by the appearance of the skin. If it's smooth and shiny and devoid of any hair, it points towards LS. If it's just a little pale but the skin looks otherwise OK, vitiligo.

LS typically starts from the 'top' of the vulva, i.e. around the clitoral hood and as the condition progresses it tends to work its way down, leaving behind scarring and atrophy. It doesn't usually appear in young women as the typical age the condition appears is in women in their 40-50s.

Hope this helps. If worried, try to get your GP to refer her to a dermatologist who's interested in genital skin conditions.

    Rgds,

    Adhari.
