Is this MD?

I finally have my ENT appointment on Friday. I have vertigo drop attacks nearly every week and have done since April. The actual vertigo lasts for a few minutes and then I am left feeling exhausted nauseous and 'weird' for ages after. I don't have tinnitus, could it be MD?

Vertigo is not always MD.  This should be clarified at the clinical appointment.

      Dear Dr. Papathanasiou,

Are the following 4 general criteria for diagnosing Meniere's Disease being used by most ENTs?

      Definite Meniere's disease:

Two or more spontaneous episodes of vertigo lasting between 20 minutes and 12 hours

Low to medium frequency sensorineural hearing loss. Thresholds must be at least 30 dB HL worse in the affected ear at two contiguous frequencies below 2000 Hz.

Fluctuating aural symptoms (hearing, tinnitus and/or fullness) in the affected ears. Must occur within 24 hours of the vertigo episode.

Not better accounted for by another vestibular diagnosis.

Thanks very much for your feedback.

Most ENT's who are familiar with neurotological problems will use this criteria.
