Is this much pain normal?!

Hi all, after the birth of my 13 month old I knew I had some prolapse but I didn't have any symptoms and didn't do anything about it... after playing a night game of netball I woke up in intense pain. I saw a pelvic floor physio and she said I have grade 2 bladder, grade 1-2 uterus and grade 1 rectal prolapse. She showed me how to do pelvic floor exercise and made and appointment for 2 weeks time. Three days later the pain was unbearable again. It seemed to get better after a bowel movement. My GP examined me today and I got a pessary. After the examination I was in excuituating pain for about 5 minutes. Now my lower abdomen on the left side is sore to touch. She's referred me to a gynaecologist. Is this much pain normal?!?! I'm so worried something more serious is going on. Thanks

As far as exercise before and after prolapse look up pelvic exercise .com they have a lot of information about what exercises to do for your pelvic floor even during recovery. Also exercises to avoid

Pelvic floor exercises following any repair should only start when your consultant advises you to. There is no hard and fast rule unfortunately because it depends on a number of factors such as type of sutures used, extent if the repair and the state of the pelvic floor prior to surgery. It is safer to wait until a patient is 6 weeks post op unless told otherwise.

I've been taken into hospital as the pain became unbearable again... now I'm sitting in triage as the pain has subsided. There are no urogynaechologists in this hospital! I found a special centre not far from here. It's 6am in Sydney so I have to wait until my doctors is open to get a referral. I know it's relating to the rectal prolapse because I need to do a bowel movement and can't. Any advice?! I'm so scared. I've got a 13month old and 3 year old who are going to wake up without me there.

Oh losa you you shouldn't have to wait. Is it possible you can get a micro enema or suppositories that you can use at home? That would help clear the bowel. I don't know how your system works in Australia but here in the UK pharmacies sell them. Or would they give you suppositories to take home at the hospital?

I will ask thank you! Part of me is worried to leave incase something really serious is going on. The pain is the equivalent of full on contractions when it's bad. My youngest was 9lbs and a drug free labour - that's what it feels like sad

It could be your bowel going into spasm. Make sure they examine you thoroughly.

It does say to avoid until cleared to have sex before doing pelvic exercise. Its a good site that helps before it get to bad and when I said during recovery I meant they have easy exercises to help from over doing things even the right way to do them and harder ones to start on months after surgery. I found it yesterday and looks to be very useful information when it comes to helping your pelvic floor

I must be looking at the wrong one then because the one I looked at contained lots of advertisements and links to other websites. I'll take another look.

Turns out it's not related to my prolapse!!! I have an ovarion torsion or twisted ovary! I need surgery to fix it but it's not serious 😊 Thank for your help ladies!!!! Xx

Poor you Losa, that is as you know agonising.  Hopefully you will soon be on the mend.  Regarding pain with prolapses, I have a lot of bowel pain. I only have an enterocele and a rectocele, the pain from the enterocele is awful, and worse if my bowels decide to stop working effectively.  If the constipation continues after the ovary is sorted I would as Matron suggests look at movical to keep the stool soft and micralax enemas. I use the enemas every 3-4 days at the moment, this in addition to 30g of fibre daily.

i hope you feel better soon!
