Is this neglect ?

I had a thyroidectomy 2007 after 3 years of taking anti thyroid med fir 3 years... I started off on 125 msgs Levon after op and gave currently been taking 59 msgs for almost 3.5 years test 50 msgs! Yes l have no energy and loads other things going on joints, etc But labs are fine!!!! Last thyroid test tsh 3.6 . Labs won't do. Other tests I dont know anyone on such a low dose without a thyroid!!!

    Thanks for your reply. As you say something else must be going on and it is too easy to fall through the cracks in the system.

    Tests mean nothing it is your symptoms that count!! Don't let your doctor deceive you into thinking that blood tests mean anything, they don't if there were none taken when you were healthy!!

    Hi sorry bout my previous typos... iPad!!! I take 50 msgs Levo docs are not interested in anything other than numbers! I'm thinking of getting some private blood tests done, l don't really have money to spare but I'm feeling really weak this cannot be allowed to go on any longer, I won't write symotoms down or l won't stop, how do you get a doc that really understands thyroid? Someone who actually knows ? Hurdles and dead ends l don't want to spend rest of my life like thus when l know you can feel better!!! I've seen it hundreds of times why won't they treat us correctly? It would save nhs millions there's so many of us on inadequate medication! X

    Doctors have a vested interest in keeping us illl, they can prescribe anti-depressants (for which they get a bonus payment) and statins which also attract extra payments! Any clinics they run are paid for by the NHS as are any tests they send you for (around £50 a test!!) I would never trust any doctor who does not listen to the patient and act on their symptoms NOT blood test results.

    I've just ordered private blood tests! Via thyroid uk website , I'm not settling for this! I've been cured ha since thyroidectomy 2007 ha! Nomore. And l certainly am not taking antids I'm not depressed so they can go gather presents and golfing holidays elsewhere l isn't bumping gifts up taking antids noway! I e been going to get my own blood tests git a long time well had enough now just need to make appointment! X

    hi there Crapribs, could you provide any indication of the rough price of private thyroid related blood tests. I am also looking for a second opinion, as my GP has been somewhat negligent in missing my diagnosis (it was picked up by a locum Doctor when GP was away)

    Hi I paid approx 128 that was comprehensive v plus ft3 It was special offer fir January dies vitamin d ferritin b 12 all important to us thyroidies that rarely a gp will order! It also includes tsh ft4. Electrolytes kidneys etc lipids it worked out cheaper for me to get this deal and l added the ft3 which is important but GPS rarely order and labs tend to refuse! X

    hi there Crapribs, that is very useful information about the prices of Private tests in the UK.

    I shall see how I get on with my GP, who is due to do some tests on my bloods in March and if I cannot get the tests you mention, I will go for it.

    Your welcome! I'm just at the stage where enough is enough I've been too submissive and accepted gp say so despite proving them wrong on other occasions which resulted in complete hysterectomy for one after been left in unbelievable pain for years! yes years but that's another story going with my gut instinct and going to sum a voice up for myself at last!!!     My update!!! Best money I've ever spent!!!!! I'm undermedicated, my calcium is on the low side, my inflammation is higher and to top it off I'm severely vutamin d. Deficient at < 7.5!!!!! i've took my results to a new gp fir first time i've spoke up for myself!!! i have a referral to an endo and a box of the highest strength vutamin d you really really really have to help yourselves guys on this one!!! i knew l was unwell despite hitting brick walls!!!! hopefully. my recovery can begin! 7.5!!!!!="" i've="" took="" my="" results="" to="" a="" new="" gp="" fir="" first="" time="" i've="" spoke="" up="" for="" myself!!!="" i="" have="" a="" referral="" to="" an="" endo="" and="" a="" box="" of="" the="" highest="" strength="" vutamin="" d="" you="" really="" really="" really="" have="" to="" help="" yourselves="" guys="" on="" this="" one!!!="" i="" knew="" l="" was="" unwell="" despite="" hitting="" brick="" walls!!!!="" hopefully.="" my="" recovery="" can="" begin!="">
