is this normal?

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if it is normal to have a small level of discomfort after your bacteria is finished. I have had that small level of discomfort after every antibiotic has been completed for all of my urinary tract infections and then it eventually goes away a couple of days later. It isn't bad, I can still work and go to university and what not so it's not a hindrance. Is that normal?

Also I was curious as to whether

Sorry everyone. I said 'after your bacteria is finished', I meant 'after your antibiotics is finished'. It's 6 am here in Australia and I had no sleep last night Hahaha

I've had the same thing but it's been more than a few days.  But I've been taking Cystex and it seems to be helping .  good luck!

Can be.  Everyone's body deals differently with UTIs and their aftereffects.  Try AZO tablets (over-the-counter here in the United States) for the burning and stinging.

    Hi Danielle ,

I too am from Australia and know exactly what you're talking about with the discomfort after finishing antibiotics as I often have to take them to treat UTI's.

In Australia we have A number of urinary alkalisers which are available at the chemist, no prescription needed and they work wonders in easing the burning.

Unfortunately we don't have AZO here (I wish we did, it would help regular sufferers here a great deal) but if you want to try that you can buy it online, it may just take a while to get to you.

Just be watchful and make sure the burning does go away, because if it doesn't then it could be a sign you're still infected.

    Good luck =)

It's pretty normal yes to have minimal discomfort for some time after finishing antibiotics and the reason is that the bladder wall is still inflamed from the infected urine the best thing is drinking water continuosly to reduce the irritation until ur urine becomes transparent like water and personally i used to take Cataflam an antiinflammatory and helps alot with the spasms

    Hey

My name is Fleur I'm 15 years old.

From the age of 4 and onwards I have had ongoing problems down there wink Trust me when I say I have gone to multiple specialists!!! Because I live in Australia - remote I have had to travel inter-state to pay thousands of dollars to get NO help for years on end.

A few months ago I traveled to Adelaide and to meet a women doctor who helped me so much. I would never leave my house, refuse to go to school and generally cut out all my social life before I met her.

I've been through mulitiple surgeries and hundreds of types of medication/antibiotic (none have worked).

The lady did some sort surgery, she put me to sleep and found my bladder was seriously inflamed. This is what is causing you the pain. She told me to drink as much water as I could (so my urine was clear) and to take uricleanse once a day.

The reason why I'm telling you this is because I tend not trust these sites but I'm putting it out there so you will have some chance of listening/believing me...

Anyway from all the pain and drama I discovered a medication called 'URICLEANSE'. It's an over the counter tablet.

. They are taken like barroca tablets but they taste pretty good. I buy mine online. They come in a green tube. And they stop pain and smell and everything to do with everything. Take them until it stops hurting.

If you want anymore info be sure to reply

    Good luck Fleur

Ps this is all sort of jumble because it is late and this is not my normal bedtime

    Sorry smile
