Is this normal?

23 F. I was on sertraline 25mg 2 months ago. After taking the first tablet I had horrific and severe side effects my heart raced and my whole body felt like it was on fire I’m not sure if it was a panic attack. Anyways for the next week I had: cold sweats, palpitations, dizziness, no appetite, insomnia, headaches, burning skin, nausea, the usual SSRI side effects but they felt so severe as I already have health anxiety and I thought 25mg was way too strong to start off at. After the 1st week I broke my tablet up even smaller so it would be then 12.5mg I took that for another 2 weeks but still had side effects but they weren’t as bad. I know everyone says ride it out it does get better but for me personally I had a horrible experience and would never take another anti depressant again. I rang my doctor on week 3 and said can I stop taking them or do I have to be weened off them. He said just stop taking them you should be fine. So I did that. I think after a few days my anxiety came back I can’t really remember and now since then I’m convinced I have withdrawal effects still 2 months after finishing the last tablet. Headaches, nausea, burning skin, dizziness, tingling feelings, flutters in chest, insomnia, sweating, stomach pains, shaking these are all common discontinuation side effects. Is this normal? Has someone else had this experience with withdrawal effects lasting this long only by taking it for a few weeks? I don’t understand I was only on it for 3 weeks and lowered my dosage after 1 week. I do not want to go back on another anti depressant I am scarred. Any tips on how to manage these withdrawal effects? I’m trying CBD oil hopefully that helps.

hi, i was on sertraline 50mg for 3 weeks. the side effects i had were so horrendous i tapered over 3 days then stopped. i was ok for a week to 10 days but for the last week i have been feeling awful again. nauseaous, dizzy, hot flushes, shivering, ringing ears tingling skin and generally feeling unwell. ive been off sertraline for a month now so sounds very similar to yourself.

my doc says i shouldnt be having these now and is doing blood tests tomorrow.

i would be interested to if anyone has had this experience too.

well I agree, I too have been on for a couple weeks and have what your description says. one of the worst parts is the ZERO appetite. at one point I had not eaton in two days! now I'm moving through the list night sweats, nausea, anxiety, delayed ejaculation, etc... So by all means your totally not alone in this, I too am here in the same boat as you, hang in there, you can do this!!!

ive recently gone back on 100mg sertraline and 15mg mirtazapine 2 and a half weeks ago. been on this combo twice before, came off of it 3/4 months ago but felt emotional and doctor said its ok to go straight back on at those dosages, side effects have been awful and i cry every day and feel helpless, my issue is i suffer intrusive thoughts about bodily functions (blinking breathing swallowing) ive had this for ages but was just living with it and was still able to be happy but atm it feels like il never feel happy again and cant see how il ever be in the moment and not locked in my own brain, if that makes sense? what thoughts do you have?
