Is this PC?

Hi everyone. I have been having a terrible time fearing that I have pancreatic cancer. It absolutely terrifies me, I don’t want to die. I have been having symptoms for about a year now. I got a CT a year ago when I first started experiencing discomfort under my left rib cage. This CT came back normal. I have been to multiple different doctors since who have brushed it off and assured me it’s not cancer, though they can’t figure out what it is. I am convinced they are missing it and I am slowly dying from this disease. They believe it is anxiety, which I do suffer from, but can anxiety really cause all these symptoms? My discomfort has turned into pain the last week, I’ve also had bloating, upset stomach, fatigue, dizziness, and abdormal stools. How can I 100% figure out for sure if I have PC or not? This worry is driving me absolutely mad. I don’t know where else to turn. Does it sound like I have PC or something else? Thank you

Firstly let me try to reassure you, this type of cancer is quite rare and we can have lots of symptoms that can replicate it. If they’ve have done scans/camera work and blood tests and your a year later then it could be something else that’s not as serious.

When we google and research symptoms it can produce lots of scary results and that will in itself give you anxiety.  Have they checked your amalyse and lipase levels? Have you ever had a pancreatic attack? Have you lost weight without trying too or gone off your food permanently?

There are so many gastrointestinal conditions that could cause your symptoms which aren’t life threatening

Celiacs, ibs, Chrons, gallbladder, lactose intolerant

    The list is endless

Please try to not worry as this can make you ill.  Pancreatic cancer is very rare

When you get the pain if on a scale of 1 - 10 , 10 being unbearable , go to a/e where they will go through loads of tests which will pick up anything that’s not right. This is the best way to be checked

Take care and stop worrying x

    Oh Kate,

This is very scary for you, made even worse by the fact you don't have an answer. Do you suffer from acid reflux? This can cause havoc on the digestive system, likewise gastritis, pos gallbladder. I personally would push your dr for more tests to rule stomach issues out, perhaps an endoscopy.

Anyway I hope you keep us up to date as to how things go.

    Good luck

I like you sometimes let this get to me. Then I am reminded that I've been dealing with this for years and the reason PC is called the silent killer is because it doesn't start showing symptoms till it is far advanced which means for people like you and I who have had normal cts that the likelyhood of this being PC is very very very low.

You could be in the beginning stages of cp or have possible epi which is very hard to detect due to the pancreas not being overly damaged. Please try to think rationally about this I know it's hard especially when you havent been given a diagnosis but it is more than likely not pc.

The likelihood of PC is very rare.  I just don’t understand why so many people come on here who have been to Drs and still think they have PC.   Get off the internet.  You are causing yourself unnessary health issues.

I’m sorry to be harsh but instead of worring about PC and dieing, live your life.

So many on here have been dealing with diagnosed Pancreatitis and the disease is dreadful.

Hear, hear Kay. I see so many on this forum terrified of PC and yet have had these vague symptoms for months, if not years, and most have clear test results. The internet and the stresses of modern life have a lot to answer for. Most of the people who come on here seem to be young and it would be rare for anyone under 50 to have PC. Get off the internet, believe your doctors and stop clogging up the system with your unnecessary and constant testing! If you’ve had symptoms for ages and clear tests, you don’t have PC! I’m no doctor but I’d bet my house on it.

Why am I being so blunt? Because I’ve had PC and the number of people wittering around with vague symptoms who keep getting tested and tested and still don’t believe their doctors does my head in.
