Is this penis fungal rash or something else?

Hi. I have had an issue affecting the head of my penis for over a year. It started with small pimples/bumps, and has continued with red blotchy rashes and occasionally small red spots. Recently, the small pimples have reappeared. I'm not sure if any of it is connected to cold symptoms I sometimes get, too. I have had multiple tests over the year at the GUM clinic and all have come back negative, though they don't test for herpes. GUM clinic staff and doctors have seen my various symptoms of bumpy spots/red splotches, and have said it is fungal, however I am terrified and getting into panic thinking I have been misdiagnosed and that I have herpes or something else. Has anyone had something similar, and found an answer? image

Hi Kim, I agree - what would be the typical form of treatment, then if no improvement was seen, what are the next steps after that ........ ?

Definitely looks sore to me. Do you use soap or shower gel on your glans? I find mine goes like your second pic when i use things like that.

I used to use soap and shower gel, but stopped over a year ago when the first symptoms appeared. Now I use dermol soap substitue

I tend to try and use water only when cleaning under the foreskin nowadays. It still occasionally flares up but goes after a few days. The first picture looks completely normal for an uncircumcised glans to me though. Mine is exactly the same, most uncut penis heads will have red patches, pimples and marks on them. I call them badges of honour from wear'n'tear!

Hello. Here is an update. I was referred to a urologist, and I had to wait months. In that time, I refrained from using any supplied ointments, creams or soap substitutes on the head of the penis. Instead, I just wash with warm water. I noticed an immediate difference. Less bright red flare up, less red patches, and no small spots. Every now and then, the head goes red. Only every now and then, and it is usually when I have waited to go to the toilet to pee. Any redness then disappears and calms down. The head is always a shade of red, but nothing bright red, no soreness, and no patches. Finally, I saw a urologist, who took a look. He said the head looked healthy, but did notice redness around my foreskin when it was pulled back. Despite seeing this, he told me this was nothing to worry about. After hearing my symptoms and process with getting it looked at, involving multiple doctor and sexual health clinic visits, he said that it is nothing to worry about, and no need for concern. I was told that the redness can come from moisture that builds up under the head, and to remain cleaning with warm water. It is possible it has come from going to the gym. I'm not sure why it goes red when I am holding off going to pee, but if the urologist is happy, then so am I! I hope this update helps some of you!
