Is this really Labriynthitis?

I've been feeling almost constantly dizzy and unbalanced since the beginning of January (13 weeks!).

I had what I assume was a viral infection over Christmas, which I seemed to be getting over, just felt really tired. Then one day I just woke up feeling completely dizzy. I've been to see my Gp several times, who diagnosed labriynthitis, and after 6 weeks of constant dizziness, nausea, feeling spaced out, tinnitus, exhaustion and the feeling of pressure in my ears, prescribed betahistine. That was around two months ago, and I'm still taking betahistine 8mg, 3x a day. At first I thought the tablets were helping, then I got a cold and was right back to the beginning with my symptoms. Then last week I had a sinus infection and was prescribed clarithromycin, by the end of the course I was feeling almost 100%, but 3 days after I stopped taking them I feel terrible again. The gp refuses to refer me to the Ent because I've had some good days, so has said I'm obviously recovering, although to me it really doesn't feel like it! I'm literally feeling so low right now and feel like I'm never going to feel "normal" again. I've missed alot of time from work and I'm constantly tired.

All blood tests have come back "perfect" according to gp.

How long does labriynthitis last for?

It is possible that if it were not for the cold and sinus infections intervening in the middle, that you would have been okay by now.

It varies in length. Mine lasts for months then completely goes away for a while then returns. I just have learned to live with it and enjoy my day even though I'm dizzy. Working helps me keep my mind from dwelling on it.

Recovery is up and down. Also I would stop the betahistine if you haven't already as it's a vestibular suppressant so will delay compensation and when u stop them your symptoms will return. I know people with labs who have taken anywhere between 3 weeks to 3 years to recover!
