Good day.   20 days ago I reduced from 112 mg’s of Ven to 75 mg’s. with my Docs blessing of course. Now I’m experiencing some dizziness and just an overall feeling of feeling not well. I want to get off these meds altogether and I’m just wondering if feeling like this is par for the course!!!!  Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!

Hi John, yes it is.  I have gone off of it several times.  For some reason, the dizziness kicks in several weeks after reducing.  Keep enduring it!  It's worth it once you are off of it!

Thanks for ur reply Christy. How long does this last?  What I plan on doing hereis once I feel a little better I will go down to 37.5 mg’s and stay there for 1 or 2 and possibly 3 months. I ant to take my time coming off so I can stay off the meds. Any advice you can provide me would be appreciated. Enjoy your evening

Hi Lynn. I have started my reduction from 75 mg’s by taking  15 beads out of the pill. I plan on reducing this way until i’m done.  I see my Dr nxt week and I’ll discuss my plan with her then.   I fully trust her. And I also plan on sticking to my daily exercise routine as well. I find exercise is very important. Hope youre having a great day and weekend.

Lynne. Do you think taking 15 beads out of a 37.5 mg pill is too much?  I plan on trying this every week until i’m done. This is day 2 and I must say my brain feels a little buzzing and I’m just wondering if its too much. I did go from 112 mg’s down to 75 and it didnt seem too bad!!!!!

John I took 15 beads out from 37.5 first cut but I am also on Prozac too. The lower you get the harder it is. They say 10% cuts so maybe 15 is too much. I would try taking 8 beads out for 10 days then do 15 out for 10 days.

Hi Lynn. I have been taking out 15 beads now for four days and I fel pretty good so I will stick with this for 10 days and evaluate after that. I do appreciate youre  feeback and dont mean to be a know it all. Lol. Just that I’m feeling pretty good right now. All the execise I’m doing is helping also. I’m convinced of that. I see my Dr in 4 days so it would be nice if I’m still feeling good. Hope your having a great day!!!!

Do what is ever comfortable for you. I am down to taking just 15 beads a day, from 25 last week. I’ll see how it goes.

    Hy John,

I come to this discussion having come off Ven too fast and suffering protracted withdrawal that landed me on mirtazapine and then a ven reinstatement. I've spent a lot of time on tapering support forums!  When on these meds for a long period, the nervous system adapts to take into account the drug's actions, dialing back its own neurtransmitter production to bring about balance.  When you taper too precipitously, you end up with symptoms because it's like yanking part of a trellis out from under a vine that is growing on it.  Take away the trellis little by little and the nervous system will adapt back without too much fuss (symptoms).  Some are blessed with the ability to make bigger cuts without too much trouble, BUT, the when you have symptoms, it is never good to continue cutting until you feel solid again!  And, if you cut big amounts and have big symptoms, that is a sign that you are going to have to go a little slower, cut a bit less steeply!   Some of us have had to go as slow as 10% per month.  Keep in mind that 75 to 37.5 is a 50% cut and that is likely to give you withdrawal.  Your first cut was about 34%.  What form of ven are you on?  Are there little beads in the capsule or are there the larger ones?  Extended release or immediate release?  Beads are the best because you can remove a lesser percentage of beads from the capsule.  I save those extra beads to stretch my one month supply. Due to my bad withdrawal experience, I have been tapering the very slow route and yes, it is taking forever but I don't want to end up back on. I have to say I've felt very good throughout.

Hi Betsy. Thanks for the info. I am on the extended release capsules. Perhaps if and when I’m feeling better I will reduce to 50 or so mg’s and take it from there. Whatever will work best for me. I exercise a lot so that may help also.    Once again thanks. And enjoy your night.

Good morning Hilda. I cant say I’ve experience that. But I do feel like I’m not with it at times. Not sure if they are the same or not. Still not feeling the best so the 75’s have notfully kickd in yet. Though I had a really great day on monday. Thought it was a new beginning but when I woke up yesterday I was back to feeling crappy. One of my probs right now is lack of sleep. I fall asleep real easy then I wake up 2 hrs later and toss and turn till I get up around 8. Really screws up ur day!!!!!!!  Speaking of that, enjour yours.

Hi there john 059 I've managed to get down from 150mg to 37.5 well just under! Yes you do get awful feelings of being unwell, all of us I'm some way or another. I started getting brain zaps like many of us you'll find have, that will pass in time. I also and still am finding it very hard to wake in the mornings even on the lowest dosage, if your totally to unsure please consult your GP as this is an awful tablet to come of off. I have no other medications prescribed to help me wean of off this in-between which is making me kind of not produce any further.

Thanks for the info Christina. I’m determined to be successful in getting off this med and so far i’m not feeling too bad.  I’m taking 15 beads out of a 37.5 mg pill. I also take a full 37.5 pill. Plan on taking 15 beads out every 7 to 10 days and see where that takes me. Hopefully I will be of this stuff soon but not too soon. Just want to feel like my old self again. Njoy your day....
