Is this tummy pain & bloating normal?

Me again! I'm just wondering if this tummy pain that I've been getting since Friday is normal? I'm holding my tummy all the time as it's so sore to touch & I have this constant bloating feeling under my bust. I only have to eat a little amount and my whole stomach goes into meltdown. I look like I'm 6 months pregnant again?!

I've emailed my consultants secretary & she's asking him what he thinks 2mrw & will let me know but I'm starting to worry now as had the cramps before but not like this. My whole tummy feels so sore & heavy. Pain killers aren't doing a lot. Do u get upper pain with UC? I've read that u only get that with Crohn's? Just feel like I need to be popped! Off for a soak hoping that might help a bit.

Any suggestions would be fab. I've tried my wheat bag, heat pads, pain killers galore & nothing's shifting it. Thanks all xxx

Jo are your poos a bit hard? Sorry to be personal but I've been getting almost daily pain and bloating since day one,and drives me crazy. Last week my consultant seemed to think that I probably have ibs as well as uc,apparently the two often occur together. I open my bowels twice daily but feel sometimes they are a bit too firm? Been taking two Buscopan at first sign of pain and touch wood been helping a lot. Consultant suggested Dulcoease or equivalant when poo is bit hard. Good you're getting advice 2moro but just couple of possible ideas? Let us know how you get on xx

      Hey mate!

No not really, I have one poo a day and it's normal. I'm on quite a few pain killers which cause constipation but I've been on them for so long that my body is used to them now. Have you been living with this pain all that time Jill? U poor thing. I feel bad moaning & I've only had this bad pain for 4 days. I just want to rip my insides out if that makes any sense?

Gonna buy buscopan first thing 2mrw and see if it helps.

I just keep thinking it's something horrible.

Thanks so much my saviour :-)

Hey Jo, pain a lot better after switching from Pentasa to Asacol, same Mesalasine med but different release area! Used to walk around rubbing belly, heat packs and anything else I could find! Bloating seems to start from bra line and by evening wires in bra (underneath)drove me bonkers! I now take two Buscopan at first sign of pain and also firm massaging helps. Consultant said bowel can go into spasm, kinda makes sense? Hope you get some good advice today, let me know as we seem to have very similar area of disease and symptoms xx

      Hi lovely

Well...had a call from my consultants secretary & he's brought my appointment forward from the end of November to the 30th September as he's not sure if the meds are right for me or he said maybe it's too early to tell?! I'm noticing that there's lots of if's & maybe's related ibd isn't there?

Forgot to ask him if I should take buscopan! Do u think it would hurt?

Not sure if I can demand an answer as to what disease I have but would like to know what I'm living with Jill. Do I have the right to ask for more tests to be carried out this early on? Just so gutted that my family have forked out £2k & we still don't know for definite what I've got!

Wow, exactly the same symptoms as u re the 'bra thing!' I used to rest my drinks on my bump when I was pregnant and I found myself doing the same last night, it's just so swollen and ugly to look at. If I even knock my tummy slightly, I scream out in pain. They didn't offer anything to do in the interim to help with the pain so just keep taking the pain killers I guess?!

Do u live a 'normal' life now or do u still have to think about where toilets are located etc? When yr not flaring, does it all resume back to how u were before u fell ill with ibd? Just wondered how I'll feel once everything settles down. I feel tons better from not having chronic diarreah but wondered if the pains will still be here every day?

Anyway thanks again Jill. I really can't tell u how much u have already helped me. It's just so reassuring to know there are people like u out there to help people like me. Thanks xxxx

Hey Jo,soo glad your appt brought forward and yes,you have every right to know what's going on inside! Hopefully they will have all your results back by then! Be firm, ask questions and take your list! I personally would give the Buscopan a go,with your amount of pain I'd try 2 tabs three times a day? Try and take them at the very beginning of the pain coming on. My pain always seems to start mid afternoon time, weird I know. You would think the other painkillers you take would help?  There is something called " The Bristol Stool Chart",gross I know, but you can check on that in case you are slightly constipated? Because I go twice daily I would never have thought of constipation, but consultant said if not soft "like toothpaste" it can cause pain! Yes,I feel Sooo much better now,and can deal with the pain with Buscopan, massage etc, just hope they don't stop me taking it! Don't worry about loos unless flaring and lead normal life as you will. Tricky to get meds right as everyone different! Ask about Buscopan at appointment just to make sure? Let me know how you get on with them, might take a day or two to help mate xxxxx

      Hi Jill

Started on the buscopan last night & only taking 3 a day atm and so far so good! I came off the predfoam today as per my consultants recommendations so not sure if the pains have died down a bit because of the predfoam or these buscopan are helping. It's not gone but deffo not as painful! So another big thank u mate!!

I know all about the Bristol stool chart as come from Bristol and I remember buying someone a birthday card with it on the front years ago, thought it was funny at the time but now looking at it in a different light!!

      Thanks again lovely xx
