is this vestibular neuritis?

Posted , 6 users are following.

during my short but hard cold i suddenly felt very dizzy and tired. ever since i have been wobbly and had problems with my balance. its been a week and a half now. i cant do much atm.

what i dont understand is that it gets better and worse Throughout the day.

last week i had a day when i felt i was almost ok again. i didnt feel so lightheaded anymore and less dizzy, still jittery through.but the next day it went back to feeling unsteady and in the evening mostly light headed. and also this Fatigue!

i read it s worst the first few days but why did i feel ok, then worse again? also, i easily start panicking once i feel light headed. i get sweaty hands and tremble.

because i feel really trapped in this. .my doctor said today its probably vestibular neuritis.

i dont feel sick and i dont have a headache.

brainfog, yes..

and ..not feeling myself.

i felt a bit better and suddenly after making a cup of tea dizzy and light headed again..

why does it comes and go in waves?

this scares me.

That's the worst part. it gets better, it gets worse, as quickly as switching on the light. Sudden changes in temperature will bring it on, at least for me it does. But it's totally unpredictable. If that's what you have, try to see a specialist, and do some vestibular exercises, it will get better, but takes time, of course it may just be part of your cold and may go away on its own. Good luck!

This sounds like how mine started in early December. My head was stuffy and my ears were ringing. I had brain fog and felt strange. I had a terrible headache as well. Then I got sick the next day and the doc said I had a sinus infection. I was scared because I was very lightheaded and dizzy. I would tremble and shake. I had an ear infection as well. The dizziness persisted and I was told I had vestibular neuritis. After an MRI, CT, labs, ear tests and balance testing the diagnosis is vestibular migraines. Some people don't have headaches and one of the main symptoms is dizziness. It's worth a check if it continues. I hope it passes soon!

exactly stef. same as me. first bppv then VN. after fighting and finding the right specialist, its VM. i had all the testing. ruled out the VN. amy, get to a dizzy clinic. you need the special testing. you need to see a nuero-otologist, otolarngologist. dont accept the VN until you get the testing. they just throw these diagnoses around. you dont need the physical pain of a headache to have VM

Last Thursday for example I felt good almost the entire day and then the next day I wake up and I feel bad again. Today I could barely walk to the doctor's but a few days ago I feel I could still walk to the shop. Then sometimes during the day I feel better for 1-hour and more clear in my head and then all of a sudden I feel really exhausted and dizzy again. And I never know if I'm actually getting better or not because I have these moments that I feel better and then all of a sudden I feel really weird again. So why is that????

Do you also have this tiredness with it?

All my blood results are fine and I don't have a headache and I don't feel nauseous. Just a lost of appetite ,I would say. But even that varies throughout the day!!

Another thing is that I do not have any ear ache at all. And I never had any ear ache in the past weeks.

My balance test today I failed.

3 years ago I had a cold which left me with a tinnitus. But the ear specialist could not find anything either back then.

As a child I often had problems with my ears.

My blood pressure is way too high, she said today.

But that's not necessarily something new.

    ps:

and thank you for your answers!
