Is tinnitus a withdrawal symptom of citalopram

I have been off citalopram for a number of weeks. In the last week my tinnitus has exploded.  Is it a known side effect of withdrawal and can I expect it to go away again?

I took my last citalopram tablet in November 2017 and still can't get shot of the tinnitus. It has improved a lot from a ranging noise to a slight buzz/ring sound in head/ears. I would like to know if anyone's tinnitus went away after taking this drug?

Crazy that you aren’t informed of these things by GP. Have raging tinnitus for a couple of weeks now.

Doctor's just assume we read the leaflet ..and when we complain they try to brush if off that is something else unbelievable..I find taking a Benadryl releaves some of the tinnitus.. something in the antihistamine that calmed the tinnitus a bit at least for me..

It's a side effect of withdrawal and also of start up/increase. Sometimes, if I wake up in the night, I have a very low kind of buzzing or humming in my head.

Most mornings when I wake at the moment I have a kind of ringing, it's quite faint. It's definitely the drugs.

I spent a whole year off cit from 2015 to 2016, and it went away. Also 2017 to 2018, was on a really low dose of 2.5mg, and I don't remember being troubled by it then.

So hopefully, it will go away for you. Fingers crossed 🤞
