Is UTI accompanied by stomach/digestive problems ?

I seem to have considerable bowel and stomach problems and feel a certain nauseous feeling towards specific foods, such as spicey stuff and also - what is/used to be(?) my all -time favourite drink coffee ?

Is this usual ???

it's hard to say....I usually drink coffee half the day.....(with cream and sugar :P )

I've started limiting myself to 1 cup (so I don't get a headache) and have started drinking a lot, of green tea....I don't like spicy foods so I can't say one way or the other where you're concerned.....have to wait and see

I can imagine that any infection in the body can contribute to some nauseous feeling, especially when it's centered in the bladder, uretha and maybe even in a kidney.   I find that one of the best treatments for mild to moderate nausea is to eat a bit of crystallized ginger.  It really works.

This is going to sound crazy - cause it is but my wife had me a psychic fair about four years ago. I thought this person who professed to know my future as looney. She spoke in so many generalities , as I expected .

Except for two things which confused me . She told me about an opportunity for work that I had turned down ten years previous and the type of work that it was (insurance) which is nothing like I had done or have done since. THe other was that " I drink too much coffee - much more than most people " THIS IS very true. Probably between 8 and 20 cups of coffee a day for much of my life . She looked at me and said I had to stop drinking coffee or it would kill me. I scoffed at that as I felt almost immune to the effects of coffee and can sleep like a baby at any time I feel .  Well , a few years later and I am suffering with UTI like problems yet with all tests negative for infections and then still given 4 rounds of various antibiotics in the event it is prostatis ... I'm still in pain almost by the minute for over one year.

So Thomas ... I'm going to have to say yes as much as we'd like to think otherwise .. coffee or any caffenated beverage is not good with this condition. Check your PH .. My PH is now typically close to 5 all the time. My GP says that is not really a big deal.. Well if it feels like I'm peeing acid I think maybe it is somewhat of a deal ... big or small.

Check out the IC (intecystis diet ) page by Jill Osborne as well as some of the female forums on here related to intercystis IC ....

Hopefully its only prostatitis and it goes away before one year.

I had prostatits once for 8 mohths .... all tests negative and put on antibiotics then as well... but antibiiotics didn't work.

You could check to see if its yeast ?

I used Saw Palmetto back in those days and it took the pain down a bit and eventually went away.

This time... saw palmetto , Prostaphil , Quercetin , UTI drops and a 15 day yeast cleanse all seemed to help but it comes and goes . Its gone for two days and then back again the next..

According to Jill Osborne or the Montrealfitgirl I  think her name is ( youtube) it takes about 90 days for your cells to regenerate and so you want them to regenerate from the food/diet you are eating today to see the greater benefit in 90 days . If you have that coffee tomorrow , you start the suffering all over again.. Its going to take time.. you are essentially injured and hopefully can heal...

Me too.. and I'm not a very strict eater since I've been thin my entire life and been able to eat what  I want..

Let me know if you succeed ...  Oh and I had the IBS stuff and now have diverticulosis in my intestines .. so maybe coffee is not so good..

ANd i believe its OK to drink BAMBU coffee.. Its a name of a brand that used nuts and barley in powdered form and tastes very much like coffee.

ITs instant coffee and it works out to something like 10 cents (Canadian) per cup..

As far as I know .. this stuff wont' 'kill me'....

    Take care

Thanks a lot, Ian, that is REALLY helpful. It also confirms a few things, such as that antibiotics don't seem to do anything at all. Likewise, when it comes to painkillers: the ones I have been given were all completely useless.

I shall certainly act on your coffee advice. I guess, now it's just wait and see. Of course, I shall be back to the doctor tomorrow as well.

Thanks again and all the best to you
