Is Vertigo a known side effect of Sertraline?

Hi, Just wondering if Vertigo could be caused by Sertraline ? I've been taking it since last December and at 200mg since March.

Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Hi Carol I have heard things like that before, I would say that it's not affected me that way as I suffer from vertigo anyway so I wouldn't notice any difference. It does affect my ears though, they keep blocking up to the extent I can't hear anything.

Thanks Tracy, I'm having earache too, maybe I should see Dr tomorrow if I can get appointment. The Vertigo and sickness causes me to panic making everything worse.. It's a nightmare.

How long ago was it when it was increased because increasing it takes a few weeks again to get used to, just like the side effects at the beginning?

Hi Tracy, I've been on max 200mg Sertaline since March this year. Do ya think it's possible to develop side effects after such a long time ? x

Hi Tracey, yes. It's the lesser of 2 evils, do I continue taking meds to keep depression at bay and put up with Vertigo as a nasty side effect ? My Gp will be unlikely to want to change my medication. X

Hi Carol, no you shouldn't have side effects ts if you've been on the same dose since March. But I would see your Doc if vertigo us making you dizzy, this is a side effect of the meds but I wouldn't have thought it should be continuing now. Sometimes certain meds don't work for everybody you'd be surprised your doc might consider a different option- its worth the visit it's your health that's important at the end of the day x
