Is Vitamin C 1000mg with Echinacea bad for GERD/ LPR

Hello ,

I've been suffering with constant burping and Globus Sensation due to reflux.I try to keep active by good diet and exercise. I do everything in moderation.I stayed away from triger foods like chocolates, yum, cheesygrin pizza, spicy food, coffee, oily foods and even tea, I only drink camomile tea, ginger tea or green tea after dinner.I don't know what to do anymore. I'm currently taking Omeprazole 25mg in the morning and planning to see ENT soon. Been to GP several types my bloodworks which included cholesterol, glucose, and all the other tests for internal organs came normal.I added St. John's Wort  to relax my nerve.I only sleep 5 hours thinking that my acidity will worsen if I fall asleep and end in a flat position.I can't  eat citrus fruit,so I take the Vitmain C to boost my immunity.Since I am with Omeprazole I added Vit. B12 drops to my daily medication to remove the burning sensation on my tongue.I've read several articles saying that licorice, garlic tablets and turmeric and cumin tabs, together with probiotic is good for this condition. So which one worked for you.I've turned myself to guinea pig trying to heal myself. I go to GP wanting to hear the treatment I wanted but she completely brushed the thought and we discussed about lufe which has completely nothing to do with my illness. I felt that I'm just making up my illness and it's all in my mind. All we wanted in general is to get back to our usual, everyday life.I don't want to mask the symptoms with the medications that will backfire soon with side effects.I don't want to go under the knife as much as possible.Sorry for the long story.Thank you for your time.

Hope we all find the answers.biggrin

Hi going through the same thing, GP reduced ny esomeprazole from 40mg to 20mg in November without telling me as have been on it for 8 years, all going well until got a virus in January then chest infection and now have constant pain in centre of chest which goes a bit when I burp, although the globus sensation has died down, but the burping is still there, going to GP tomorrow to try to sort this out as have been on PPI's for 8 years and scared of what they masking. Did not know lack of B12 caused sore tongue, being having one last couple of weeks. I have just brought gaviscon advance today and have taken 2 with no relief, perhaps I need more before I can say whether they help or not. I think the anxiety is causing more problems, palpitations etc. Will let you know what GP say's tomorrow.

Thank you very much for the info,I really appreciate it. So Globus Sensation is also part of it?A chemist actually knows more about my symptoms and had a worthwhile discussion with her. When I go to GP it feels like I'm the one educating her, (pardon the pun) giving out information about my symptoms and that's the time I would hear the diagnosis and would give me prescription. Meanwhile, sleeping at night is the best part for me cause I would be totally asymptomatic but no matter how I try to have at least 6 hours sleep I can't.The moment I open my eyes, first burp would come like my alarm clock.I might be resting in my deep slumber but the acid still active.Trying hard to take the natural medicines lke aloe vera juice with honey, Im sure it helped me a lot and will continue to help me if I take it religiously. I still have a new one  in the fridge.Hope you will find the answers with your GP tomorrow if Vit C is bad for you or any special diet you can have.

Take care for now.I'm always here even I'm asymptomatic trying to share as much as possible good or bad.

Only sleeping 5hrs is not good for you and there is a simple solution to the lying flat problem, simply raise one end of your bed on bricks. I have done that and worries gone.

Its interesting that not many people are taking lanzoprozle but some studies show its more effective.

These drugs don't mask the symptoms they reduce the acid which is causing the reflux. If like me your body generates too much acid, no diet in the world is going to solve the problem. What you need is something to reduce the acid and for me thats the PPI.  I am not into lets find a natural cure because life is full of toxins, the food we eat the air we breathe. I want a pain free life and the ppi gives me that.

My GP reduced my meds, symptoms came back so we upped it again and it went away. She doesn't bother now as she knows I need a high dose. I also don't bother going to ENT you need a gastro person for this stuff as they deal with problems in the stomach areas. An endscopy will put your mind at  rest if there any any problems.

hi there, still got it. today it is worse. it is only relieved when i eat or drink. i went on a fad dieting and tried so hard to lose weight by limiting my food intake. name all the lose weight products and i've tried it. lost the  money but not the weight.and i gained globus from it i think, now that i am eating sensibly the globus comes and goes. when i make peace to myself and love me for who i  am no matter what shape i have as long as it's not obese i am ok with that..our body has its own healing mechanism. until then, i would hope that one day all globus sufferers would find the solution to this almost like a curse illness.
