Is walking always supposed to help?

I had EVLT and sclerotherapy prior to a Disney vacation (that was booked months before I had these vein issues.)  Our trip was just days after sclerotherapy and wore my stockings 24/7 as instructed.  All that walking and standing in the hot Florida sun was not my friend and my leg still hurt considerably.  My doctor actually laughed (!!) and told me he didn't know of a single case that exercise wouldn't help, and all of the walking and standing should have HELPED my issues, not made them worse?!  I must have knee problems...  and the pain couldn't possibly be vein related.  We walked 25,000 steps a day.  I have never found exercise to give me relief.  The more walking/standing I do, the more pain I am in later in the day....   Does anyone else find that walking a ton makes things worse and not better??
