Is zoloft worth it? Need Advise.

I started Sertraline 16 days a go with 1 dose increase in that time frame.  I am having really bad side effects I think.  My stomach hates the pill in the morning and I can not sleep through the night.  I wake at 3am and can not fall back to sleep.  On top of that I am starting to sweat really bad at night.  I also just feel over all sick and my head is so foggy.  Does this get any better?

    Hi Richard,

Wishing you the best.  Please be aware that Sertraline can cause extreme and prolonged diarrhea.  Not in all cases, but some.  If you are uncomfortable with how this is affecting you, please seek medical advice.  You deserve to feel great!

Unfortunately my doctor doesn't seem to thrilled with helping understand the effects of these meds.  I don't really have diarrhea it more like pain once I take the pill.  It lasts about an hour.  I am also very tired and I did have three good days then slipped backwards and I am supposed to up my dose this weekend but I am nervoues about upping the dose when I still have all these side effects.

Hi Richard, I had been taking them for 5 weeks but could no longer stand waking up a few times every night covered in sweat. I was also flushing hot and cold every day. I've stopped taking them but am still sweating every night (it's only been 3 days) but am desperate for it to stop. It's seems to be different for everyone. My doctor told me to stop taking them.

Yes the sweating is the worst he keeps telling me it will stop once I level out.  I was hoping someone might have seen that actually happen.

Hi Susan, my doctor said that I could just stop taking them. It has taken a few days for the side effects to stop. I'm not sweating now and am not having hot and cold flushes all day. I haven't taken one for about 6 days. I'm really glad I'm not taking them anymore as hated feeling unwell every day and not sleeping. I hope your son is ok.

Maybe your dosage is too high.  Started Sertraline in June after trying a couple others that were really bad.  I started out on 25mg then after 3 weeks went to 50mg - YUCK!   Since July I take 25mg in the morning, then in the evening I cut a 25 in half and take a half at night.  I still have a few days not so great days - but that also is life.  I have come to accept what I can not change.

So I started the upped dose on Saturday I also took a lorzplam Fridays night and was able to get a good 7 hours sleep, Saturday was not a bad day ended up getting some stuff done, however went to bed Saturday night and again today I woke up at 4am and sweating like a pig, does this ever go away I would hate to have to take lorzplam just to get some sleep since there addictive.

Did anyone else get jittery while upping their dose I am told its normal but would really like to hear from people who have been there, I was told if you get jittery it means the meds are working and will even out after a few days?
