Ischemic Pancreatitis... new member

Just joined this board. I'm an otherwise very active youthful senior. Five decades ago suffered an uncommon splenic pseudoaneurysm that I barely survived self healing over about one month. That apparently consequently damaged my spleen and pancreas from periodic arterial leaking hemorrhaging and infections within my retroperitoneal cavity that has at time lasted months that I've self dealt with by barely eating, I won't for now describe herein. The rare condition with my damaged pancreas is termed ischemic pancreatitis and usually follows hemorrhaging that then causes spleen issues. I expect the artery damage is near the splenic hilum that is adjacent to the toe of the pancreas and that is the site of damage.

Decades ago before modern imaging given the deep location, was told there was a fair chance I would die on an operating table just exploring to see what was inside. Thus have just lived with the condition that occasionally flares up as has currently. So have been on the brink of a mortal condition my whole adult life.

I have a good SS medical plan with a premium provider and the obvious next step is an expensive CAT scan though despite modern surgical science given unknowns of specifics, am still deathly afraid of actually having surgery.
