Do any of you have these cysts/boils constantly? Mine either A. Are not healing or B. I keep getting them in the same area. I have cut nightshades, dairy. I am eating mostly chicken and turkey along with salad. I am using Dial or hibiclens to wash, followed with tea tree oil or neosporin. Am I missing something?

Hi Hatethis, that's really disappointing that the diet changes don't help you. I suppose you would have to try it for a few months at least...

In my case... If I avoided potato's 13 out of 14 days.... And had a few potato chips, I would be dealing with discharge for a fortnight... Ie half a potato a fortnight will keep mine 'active'.

Definitely get a referral to a dermatologist for the HS. They haven't been much use to many of use... But... You really should get it professionally diagnosed.

I think you said you have a pilonidal... I was I a similar situation to you... Get the pilonidal one removed surgically... For me that help bring me out of a pretty long term infection and seemed to give me the opportunity to later determine what triggered it in my diet.

Like many I find nightshades are a trigger and I aviod them were possible. I  try and avoid antibiotics and NSAID's as much as possible and use probiotics (greek Yogurt) and curcumin.

I was recently playing around with a blood glucose and to my shock discovered I am insulin resistant/prediabetic - No risk factors and I eat well ( shouldn't be me - not another bloody thing, grrrr !). If you google insuline resistance(IR) /HS there is reseach that supports high insulin levels causing higher levels of androgens to be produced which are throught to kick off HS. Some reserach attributes this hyperandrogenism ? to PCO/MPB ( the male version of PCO)  but other research has found an association just with IR.  This all fits for me.

Dr Google suggests that IR can be reversed through low carb/ higher protien/ fat diet, freqent small meals, excercise, less stress and more sleep. None of this is earth shattering and you have probably received similar advice. What I havn't seen previously in the posts is that meals should be small (snacks/ light meal) and freqent i.e 6 times a day to even out the BS levels.

It may be a long shot but if you are IR ( hard to test for on your diet !) and don't know it then you may be able include a lot more variety in your diet and it may be an  increased freqency of eating that helps.....just want to add this to the pot.
