Oh ouch, july...I know how it feels. I got piles after childbirth and they flare up from time to time.

It may be that your cream is actually irritating the area and making it hurt more. I found that. I am very sensitive to creams etc. and I was actually better off not using anything, but frequently applying a hot flannel to the area or sitting in warm as hot as I dare water. I didn't put salt in it either, as I once burned the tissue with salt water, so I just keep it plain.

I have read that piles are self limiting and usually go down after 10 days after an acute flare up. My flare ups seem to take 10 days with or without cream, but towards the end, I use vaseline on it.

My tips are not to get constipated, so you don't have to strain, and also not to [b:2398eb8c8b]over do [/b:2398eb8c8b]the fibre either - as overfrequency irritated mine as well. I also tend to avoid acidic fizzy drinks and too much caffeine containing drinks - and also Vit C supplements.

These are all things that work for me, but if the problem persists, you should talk to your doctor.

    Good luck!

I got haemorrhoids after childbirth too. None of the creams and things suggested by my doctor worked and I was in constant pain. Then an old doctor suggested ice cubes, wrapped in a piece of cotton material - it worked! I went on to have two more children and the problem never recurred!

The old methods are often the best! ;-)

Hi, I just had to reply to you when I read you didn't want the pile op as I went through the same sort of hell as you for years! The piles were painful and bleeding and one day my Dr was examining me for something else and he said about my big piles! I said they were the bane of my life and he sent a very nice letter to the hospital asking them to do something for me.

I duly got an appointment and when I saw the guy I said to him \"I want them off!\" He said \"I'll decide what's to be done!\". He then proceeded to inject them. Well, that evening I didn't know what to do with myself, the pain was so bad! Later I had to go back and have them banded which, while not painful, was a bit of a nuisance. Eventually I saw the top man who said I needed an operation. Thankyou!! :D I duly had the operation and then had to go on holiday almost immediately. Well, it wasn't the best hol I have ever had as I had pain when I went to the toilet and I'd have rather been in my own home at such a time. HOWEVER, and here, I want you to take special note, I AM SO PLEASED I HAD THE OP! I have had no further trouble and it was soooooo worth it! In fact, I'd go so far as to say I'd have it done again should the need ever arise (which of course I hope it doesn't  ).

I have been in a lot of pain for last year, I have tried all kinds of creams and suppositories but nothing helped at all. With the itching I got quite sore. To combat the soreness I used Olay Beauty Fluid. I couldn't believe it but the swelling went down and the pain was halved in days. After a couple of months of using the moisturiser I don't get anywhere near as much pain.

This is probably not the best advert for the product and I don't know if there is a problem using it that area but I thought I would let people know the relief I had using it.
