It's all in the way you look at it...

This time last year, I was working 40+ hours a week. It was hard to get through the day and only when I went on an anti-inflammatory med was I able to make it through the day. By the time dinner was made and cleaned up I was done for the day and had to lay down. I was always tired, always cranky and just felt like I was going through the motions. We were living in a tri-level house and I remember at times standing at the base of our staircase crying because I had to get up them, to get to bed. With all the people I knew with "real" health issues...I kept quiet, kept working. In January, my Mom got sick and passed away. My company went through major changes (good ones) but changes that forced me to work 50+ hours a week. And then it hit me...I can't do this anymore 😔we put our home up for sale, and I looked for the best surgeon in our part of the country. Waited four month for a consultation and when I got it, I scheduled my THR. Our home sold, we moved into our dream home...all on one level!!!! My surgery was September 9th and I cannot believe how it feels to stand without pain. Now I'm recovering I appreciate my job so much as I miss it but for once, I took care of ME! so if you are reading this and you are scheduled for your THR, good for you ❤️ We need to take care of ourselves!!!

Thank you so much for this. You have just described my whole experience! I too am constantly tired and cranky. I had to stop work because as a counsellor I couldn't give of my best. Had appointment with surgeon yesterday and he says i will get a call with surgery date sometime in the next 12 weeks. I can't remember what it feels like to stand without pain and have been becoming increasingly frustrated and upset.
Your message has given me such a boost. Thank you.
All the best.

I am both fearful and excited about the surgery. The surgeon is doing an anterior approach. I still can't decide what kind of anesthesia to choose. What did you have and why?

glad to hear you are going to ale care of yourself ❤️ I had a spinal an d general anesthesia . I'm glad I had the spinal as the recovery in the hospital was easier. But only you can decide what's best for you. 😊good luck!!!!

I haven't been myself for such a long time now, living for 3 years with severe sciatica which I had surgery for in 2013, losing both of my parents within 11 weeks of each other in 2013 at which time my world fell apart.
Then I've had to live with this hip pain on and off since 2008, always cranky and sleepy due to the pain meds which were the only thing that got me through the day.
I'm determined though that once the healing is complete from this last hip, I am going to find the old Ali from under the fog I have been living in which was mostly drug induced.
This surgery can give people a new lease of life, you are such a great ambassador for that fact.
Well done you for overcoming all the obstacles life has put in your way. You must have a real strong spirit to give done that.
Here's to you and all those currently in the process of getting their lives back.
Cheers! 🍷🍺😊
