It's HOT, very hot, and I'm in pain.

Decided I wiil do nothing all day.

Got up at 7.30 and went straight to my recliner.  Husband made breakfast.😍Stayed on recliner for 3/4 hour.  What  now?  Oh, a little tiding up wont hurt!  Tidied up and dusted round (the sun, you know)!  Returned to recliner.  Now what?  It'll send me barmy if I sit here all day.😕. OK - could just wash the bathroom floor!!  Done!  Now it is 9.45.  That's 13 hours before I go to bed!  Now what?

I don't know what to suggest, Constance as you are more experienced than me. Come to Scotland where the heat doesn't last for long and is seldom as hot as elsewhere. We occasionally have a day that is hotter than other places. You have my sympathy as I struggle with the heat and stay in the shade topping up my Vit D.😀 the sun is so unforgiving but I just dust the bits of furniture that show up the dust and leave my duster out so people can see I mean business.😂 it sounds like a long day and I hope you find something you enjoy to pass the time. If all else fails at least you will be soaking up your Vit D.

Last sentence.  Not me!  It's 10 .30 now and 28 degs - going up to 34 this afternoon!!  I think 'sizzle' would be a better discription.

How the people in Australia or America manage in this heat more often I don't know.

I am amazed that I am in so much pain - I was so looking forward to the summer - practically pain free, I thought.🙃. I'd forgotten that humid weather isn't good for arthritis (plus PMR).

I'd love to visit Scotland again.  I've been there a dozen times or more.Too far from Germany though.

Nor me with heat. It's a shame you are in so much pain. I thought heat helped but as you say if it's humid it won't. I hope it cools down soon. It was much cooler here yesterday and we had a short thundery storm last night which has cleared the air. Close your eyes and try to imagine cloudy skies here in Perthshire. We had a lot of rain both yesterday and last night. The gardens were badly needing it so no need to get the hose out. I'm sorry you are no longer able to come to Scotland but, as you say, it's a long journey especially when one is in pain. We are a bit more limited these days due to my OH's health but we enjoy and appreciate what we have.

We head for the shopping malls in Australia if weather is too hot, also most houses have aircon and all cars do as well.  Or if you happen to have a swimming pool, we can go swimming or to the beach.

Though the Humidity can be so stifling here during summer, it tends to zap all of your energy, then no one feels like working etc...

Track, here in New Mexico the sun is very hot, but most of the time the air is dry and cool. Yesterday temperature in the 80s during the day, but in the middle 60s for my evening walk. I love this mountain weather.

I would be lying in a darkened room surrounded by ice. I don't think I'd be able to eat because of the heat which would be a plus in my present Humpty Dumpty outfit!

It's been touching 32C/90F here for the last few weeks! Plus sun and mostly clear skies. Low 20sC in the evening and down to 15C/60C overnight. We sleep with the balcony door open and the blind down - perfect.

I'm not sure what the temperature was here today but cold enough to put the heating on for a while. I put it off again as we were busy in the garden and it felt hot when we came inside again. It's been tryimg to rain but nothing to date. I think it's to be wet tomorrow so no gardening. Could do with a bit more heat but not 32C.

To one and all,  I forgot to add it is Winter here in Oz and last night our temperature went down to 7 deg C, and we have had snow on the Snowy Mountains for about 1 month now, so we do in ,Southern Oz get a reprieve from the heat, though in fact most people can't wait for the Summer to return.  During the days during winter temp. can hover around 17degC.

I was in OZ in December of 1997, for a couple weeks, had a grand time. Enjoyed your sea food, walk on the beach and of course your Opera House, I had a grand time! Now just work out trying to be ready for next ski season.

I'm in Brisbane. Only 1,000km to Sydney. Sign on freeway a couple of km away says Darwin 3446km.

I've just spent a month in the middle of desert (freezing clear nights, pleasant days). Nearest sea was 1,000km south. Nearest mobile phone / internet two days drive. Nearest beer in our fridge. Pollywhatsit stable.

In February drove Adelaide Brisbane, 2,000 km. Hottest in the middle somewhere was 45 deg C. We stopped for a rest. Very dry so damp hat worked wonders.

I used to fly Brisbane Melbourne and back in a day for meetings. Roughly the equivalent of London Moscow. Or New York Dallas.

The weather in Oz varies a bit. Its a big country.

I live in sub-tropical climate.  It is hot here  and humid. If it is below 30C, I use just wet thin towel that I place over my shoulders and neck area- it becomes much more pleasant... Even when I walk the dog in this sunny, and hot weather, I use the same trick.

When it is above 30, one must be very careful. About the only thing that helps is to stay inside and use air conditioning.

Most of Europe hasn't had aircon - except in cars - until recently and it isn't usual for houses to have it. Even here in Italy despite having weeks of above 30C in July and August. But luckily mostly it is fairly dry heat - until it gets thundery - and it always does sooner or later!

The biggest mistake people make in hot weather is to open all the doors and windows. Shut them as soon as the indoor temperature is the same as outside in the early morning - and draw the curtains or put the exterior blinds down if the sun is shining on the window. A fan placed in the right place with a basin of cold water in front of it will blow cool air around. I don't even bother with the cold water - a draught of air is always cooling. In the south of Italy they work until lunchtime  - and spend the afternoon resting, even sleeping, so they can last longer into the evening when it is less hot. And do everything slowly...

I don't even do that much! Dusting only disturbs the dust so it flies in the air and settles again - once a week is fine. lol

We're away with the campervan - after doing a few things in the morning while it is still cool, we sit in the shade and read (both), play cards on the computer (him), PMRGCA (me) and generally surf the net and read there (me). My Kindle is wonderful - an unending source of English language books - and many of them for a mere 99p.

And actually - during the summer at home we do much the same. The car has aircon - so if desperate, we go out in that!

I only dust once a week too but I use a damp cloth so it doesn't  'fly'.

Sounds like a typical day for David and me too.  The trouble is I can't sit too long - need to do something.  D just enjoys life and doesn't worry about a thing.  Envy!!

Kindle is also my friend.  €6.90 is the most I will pay.  Hours of good books for less than 2 beers.😀

My problem is a good one - I can sit and read for HOURS, days even...

Great attitude, Eileen!! I love my iPad, Netflix, reading, etc., but I hate not to have my more "active" activities. But, While I was having my hour-long infusion of Actemra, I sat next to a YOUNG (50) women sitting then a 5 hour infusion of an RA drug. Grateful am I😊
