IT'S NOT FAIR!

MY NAME IS HELENE, MY PARKINSON'S EXPERIENCE STARTED EIGHT YEARS AGO. I HAD A TREMOR IN MY RIGHT FOOT,THEN GRADUALY IT WENT TO MY LEG,I HAD NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN AND HAD A PROBLEM SLEEPING.I WORK IN A NURSARY SCHOOL AND MANAGED TO KEEP WORKING FOR SOME TIME. A FEW YEARS LATER MY TREMOR WENT INTO MY RIGHT ARM AND THEN MY HAND. EVENTUALY AFTER NUMEROUSE VISITS TO HOSPITALS I HAD A SPECT SCAN AND WAS THEN TOLD I HAD PARKINSON'S. MY LIFE WENT FROM HAPPY TO SAD AND DEPRESSED, I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND THE FIRST THING I DO IS SHAKE, THE WORD PARKINSON'S HAUNTS ME ITS IN MY MIND ALL THE TIME.ITS BEEN ONE YEAR SINCE I WAS DIAGNOSED MY MEDICATION IS 15 MG OF ROPINIROLE A DAY AND SERTRALINE FOR DEPRESSION THE SERTRALINE HAS DONE WONDERS I FEEL A LOT BETTER. THE ROPINIROLE I AM NOT SURE ABOUT AS MY RIGHT SIDE IS VERY TIGHT AND I SHAKE A LOT ITS VERY PAINFULL.

I DID HAVE A WEIRD EXPERIENCE WHEN I WENT FOR A THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE, THE THERAPIST SUGESTED A SHORT SESSION OF REIKI AS SHE FELT I NEEDED IT. AFTER ONLY ONE MIN I STARTED SHAKING IT GOT SO BAD I NEARLY FELL OF THE BED WE HAD TO STOP. THE NEXT WEEK I WENT BACK TO TALK ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND I DECIDED TO HAVE METAMORPHIQUE. SHE HELD MY FOOT AND TUCHED MY BIG TOE PRESSING GENTLY, SHE WAS TALKING TO ME ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES EXPERIENCES, I FELT A STRANGE FEELING IN MY HEAD THEN I ASKED IF IT MADE ANYONE FEEL SICK AS I FELT SICK AND ONCE AGAIN HAD TO STOP. THEY HAD NEVER CAME ACROSS THIS KIND OF REACTION . I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO CAN SHED A LIGHT ON THIS. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ADVICE ON MY TREMOR?

    sad hi helene i am 56 had parkinsons for 10 years as i can't move now i am just about to start levadopa and am very nervous after hearing about side affects i know i must move on to this next step but am very weary how are you coping now and what stage are you

    My husband had symptoms for many years, but his GP kept saying it was age, etc.  He was diagnosed just 6 months ago with Parkinsons and is already on carbo/levodopa.  The first 2 weeks, he was extremely nauseated so I got those bands that go around the wrist to lessen nausea and that did help.  He also got very confused and did not want to eat.  Those side effects have started to lessen.  He is also going to PT for balance and movement of his right foot which he was dragging badly.  He is 77 now and actually played golf on a regular basis until a few months ago.  We are hoping the disease will be slowed down with the med.

      Hi Melvin, since writing this post i have  not been back on this forum, I was very ill when i started taking Ropinirole it made me feel sick and i could not eat lost a lot of weight this lasted about 1 year then i changed my Neurologist ,she put me on carbo/levodopa (sinamet) ropinirole,sertraline,and Lansoparazole. 

      at first i took ropinirole only

      then levadopa, now a few years down the line im on Stalevo 100mg/25mg/200mg i take 5 a day .

      for the past 5 years i have not had a tremmor only when i get stressed out. and my life has ben good i am now 63 years old this disease started when i was 48 but i was diagnosed 2006 .

      please feel free to ask me any questions .at the moment i have been feeling quite week and my legs are very painful got an appointment for Neurologist .i will say god night for now , HELENE ROBERTSON
