It’s with awful diarrhoea

I’m having a torrid time.  I’m 73 years old and the it’s is getting worse.  I now seem to have stools that look like mined meat.  I’ve had ct scan and had ovary cysts which have now been removed but the D just won’t go away. Doctors says I also have diverticulitis but life is so difficult as it makes me almost home bound. So fed up. Dr gave me mebeverine but it doesn’t help.  Anyone else have funny stools

With ibs many stools may look weird cuz ur digestive system isn’t working properly eating small amounts of food 6 times a day and chew slowly to make it easier to digest My GI told me that but yet I’m still going through what to eat cuz a lot of things don’t agree with me. But I hope it helps if any more questions don’t think it’s dimb to ask ur doctor or ur GI they will help.  Best of luck

Mebeverine is notorious for aggravating your symptoms; it made me 50% worse.  Try imodium instead.  It really helped my IBS D attack last year.

I feel for you. I have been battling IBSD for 8 years (I am 55 now). It has isolated me and robbed me of a carefree life. Recently it has been so bad that I had 2 accidents on my way to work!!! I see my gastro dr next week. I can lterally be on the john for 2 hours! It can start off as one firm stool then all hell breaks loose!!! The stools turn into minced meat like you were saying. By the time it is over, just liquid is pouring out!!! I am going to start the fodmap diet after i see the dr. But i eat a pretty bland diet as it is. I take a probiotic every day, and drink a pronourish drink daily. I am on Colestipol daily as well. It is actually a cholesterol med that has a benefit of helping some IBSD sufferers.

You could try Colpermin or Buscopan.

You can buy both over the counter at a Chemist.

If you find they work you can get them both on prescription.

    Hope they help

Take care and keep in touch

    Sarah.

The condition you have may cause loose stools Diverticulitis is a narrowing of the diverticulum excuse spelling, I had the same many years ago in my fifties and I needed to change my diet. I now eat a great deal of fruit, oily fish and wholemeal bread etc, white flower does not help Salmon, sardines, mackarel  seem to work well and we grow our own fruit the makes us regular

Talk to your GP regards your diet,
