Itchiness with no rash, no other symptoms. What is this?

For quite a while, well over a month, ive been itchy off and on on my arms, chest, shoulders, legs and ankles. seems like my forearms, ankles, and groin are affected the most. it isnt intense, and it seems to be more bothersome at night. Im not always itchy, but I often am. At night, when i lay down, it feels like something is crawling on me. For a while, ive just summed it up to me not changing my sheets enough or irritating detergents, but it is beginning to concern me. I also get especially itchy when pressure is applied to my skin in a certain way. Im only 21; and i dont have any other symptoms really, so i doubt its anything like cancer or kidney troubles. Another thing to add is that, ever since i discontinued vistaril for anxiety about a year ago, i started to get the weird skin itchiness when pressure is applied thing. i knew it was an antihistamine, so i wonder if that has anything to do with it. I was on it for a long time. would go to a doctor, but i cant afford it right now, so im hoping someone here might have some insight. Maybe something is just irritating me? my skin doesnt seem dry, and there isnt a rash.

Hello Timothy, my first thought is have you changed your shower gel or similar lately? Or perhaps whatever you use to wash your clothes.

Years ago, when I started to itch, I was told that fabric conditioner could cause this. I eventually had patch testing and discovered what I was allergic to - in my case, formaldehyde & formaldehyde releasers and also nickel, which you find on belts and things like that.

    Good luck!
