Itching

Hi all!

Just need to know if anyone has experienced some kind of itching when taking Flu?

It is driving me mental at the moment!

Feels like I have fleas (which i don't) and it is my whole body that is itching but mainly my hands and feet?

Have spoken to the doctor on 2 different occasions and they have just told me to take an antihistamine?

Anyone that's got a similar experience?

Thanks,

P xx

    Hi shellg2k4,

I have read through that post but didn’t really find any answers.. have called my doctors twice in 5 days (have been on Flu for 5 weeks) and all they keep telling me is to take antihistamines?

The itching is so bad that my skin is red raw and I wake my partner up every night from my itching.

Anyone who knows what I mean or for how long this is going to stay?

    Thanks,

    P xx

    hi pumpkin

given you've contacted your doc about the itching and they aren't concerned im afraid it looks like your stuck with it until you get used to the meds, on the other hand (sorry about the unintended pun lol  ) it may be something thats not related to the meds and just a coincidence :?

im assuming theres no rash or hives associated with the itching, is that correct P ???

    Hi Pumpkin9

When i first went on flu i got tiny little bumps on my hands and feet that really itched, i didn't go to the docs, she's practically useless but spoke to a pharmacist who recommended Eurax cream, i bought it and put it on the bumps several times a day, it did ease the itching for a while. Suddenly the bumps disappeared and the skin pealed off. Haven't a clue what it was but think it was down to flu.

    Hope this helps

    Hey SamB,

thanks for your help as I will definitely try the Eurax cream today as this itching is getting out of hand! I am convinced it's got something to do with Flu as well as I never have had anything even similar before. My doctor has been really unhelpful as weel so that's why i asked here if anyone had similar experiences.

    Hi Pumkin9

When did the itching start? When I started taking flu I had the same. It was like if there was something biting me. It lasted for a few days, maybe a week. Don't really remember it going but it just disappeared. :?

It does sound like a side-effect of flu to me. So it should stop.

    Have a nice day.

    Hi Pumpkin9

Anything is worth a try. I always find talking to the pharmacist better than talking to my doc. The Eurax cream did help me so lets hope it helps you. Please let me know.

    All the best

    Hi Miscellaneous and SamB,

I have been taking flu for between 5-6 weeks now and I have had a few side effects but I have had this itching for longer than a week now.

It feels exactly like I have been bitten and tiny bumps appear when I scratch. The Eurax cream def calms it down and with antihistamines it keeps it away but I just don't want to have to take lots of pills every day!

Have been extremely anxious for two days, worse in the evenings as well.

Just want it all to go.

    Love P
