Not sure if my continued itching sensation is typical. I had a severe shingles attack last July (right torso area), traumatic pain and weakness for three months, some blister spots appear permanent. My itching sensation still is there. I do not scratch. I do feel the Shingles will reappear. Good Luck

Yes it is horrible. After six years of The torture of PHN, which I hope you don’t have,

i have found the cheapest and probably most effective solution .an ice pack. It won’t cure the itchiness but you will get relief.

    Hi

I’m just getting over shingles on my left side of my face.

i havnt felt anything like the pain before.

had 2 lots of antivirals 3 lots of eye drops 2 lots of antibiotics because of them getting infected. Eye specialist twice.

My face still feels like iv got ants under the skin and numbness around the eye cheek nose and gums.

i do put ice packs on for a bit of relief, but the itching can last a very long time

    Its a nasty illness

    Myrna,

The itching is Post Herpetic Neuralgia PHN. Cool compresses or ice may soothe the area. Solarcaine with Aloe may also help as it contains Lidocaine. Ask your druggist if there are any preparations ie.

lotions with lidocaine. Bactine also contains Lidocaine. Aloe with Vitamin E or Liquid Vit E may cover the nerve endings somewhat so they are not exposed.

I am sorry you are dealing with this.

    Best Regards

    Merry Juliana

It's really bad, I'm on almost 4 week and the sensation of ants under my skin is really bad but usually gets bad in the afternoon/evening. Ice pad helps but not so much, I'm trying Arnica Gel with aloe vera, seems to get a little better.

By the way, my it's on my neck (left side).

    Hope we feel better soon.
