Itching sensation urethra

Posted , 4 users are following.

I am 27 years old. Four months ago i began to feel an intense itching sensation in my urethra with no discharge.I got tested and diagnosed with Ureaplasma Urealyticum. I treated it with antibiotic but this annoying feeling have not gone. Then i got tested again and it resulted negative for ureaplasma urealyticum, besides chlamydia trachomatis, mycoplasma hominis and yeast infections. My doc said that this itching could be result of some kind of neurologic disorder like anxiety or something like that, once the ureaplasma have gone. By the way, i still got the same sensation all day and its driving me crazy. I am really feeling depressed about this itching which is truly irritating. Can anyone help me with any different suggestion or opinion? I would greatly appreciate it.

Best Regards!

Hi. Yes it is possible that your bain is creating the itching, but from reading doctor's answers online a tell tal sign of a sommatic dicease is that the patient considers that possibility up-front. I think that possibility is dismissive of the fact that you feel unwell. Is it causing anxiety, sure isn't it normal for a person to feel anxious about such things. So, in my opinion it is much more productive to focus on the most likely possibility, which is that there's still something wrong going on.

    Is your doctor a urologist?

If so is she/he knowledgeable in STDs /STIs?

I have a similar problem. You can read my post at

Also be sure to google for it, for example: urethra man pain "no discharge" or a query more suitable to your case. Reading a bit may help a little in talking with your doctor and in the subjective (nevertheless relevant) evaluation you make of the service you are getting (not implying about your doctor, but about my first).

In case you find something relevant please share.

    Hope you get better

I am sorry, i do not think that you have get recovered completely. Although your result was negative for  ureaplasma urealyticum, it may be caused by other diseases,  itching sensation in urethra, could also cuased by UTI and prostatitis. I think you should go to the hospital to do some related tests again.

By the way, i don't suggest you taking antibiotica again. Although antibiotics could kill pathogene quickly, it would bring durg resistance. If your patheogene has been killed completely by antibiotics completely, your symptoms would reoccur easily when you stop taking the the medicine.

Maybe you could try some conservative method, such as traditional chinese herb medicine, which is as safe as the vegetable we eat everyday. And i know an effective herbal medicine named diuretic and anti-inflammatory pill, which has saved many people who suffer from itching sensation in urethra.

Hope you could recover soon. good luck

Sound advice regarding antibiotics. Moreover, there are many other causes that could underlie those symptoms. A couple of things I think you should know:

1- If you have some fungi e.g. Candida (generally albicans, but others though less likely are possible) antibiotics will actually make room for it to grow by killing other competitive microorganisms that are not harmful but present.

2 - Note that they have no choice (this is not a critique), but doctors address the 3, maybe 4 most common causes for your symptoms. After that they either get less worried, assuming it will pass with time. Or are a bit at a lost, and need to look for oher umprobable, but possible causative agents.

3 - Sometimes the agent is never found. Either the body heals itself, or by prescribing for something that might be there, although without evidence, they hit the nail (or someother nail) by accident and you're cured.

4 - It is not uncommon to have more than one thing going. Also given you took antibiotics the possibility of yeast/fungi is there even if without further symptoms. I would get tested for Candida spp. and or KOH test for candida/fungi if I were you (I my self will tomorrow).

5 - Keep your head cool about this. Don't mess too much with your genitalia, oversensitizing it. Address this like some sort of criminal investigation. Ask your doctor for other possibilities, see another doctor if he/she is to renitent or starts suggesting this is in your head (in case you have no doubt it is not, otherwise the opposite ;-)

In case you still have the problem I would suggest you to try the homeopathic medicine Alumen 30 for a week. 5 globules, 3 times 15 minutes before food. Globules to be not chewed but allow for dissolution in the mouth
