Itchy back and back of scalp - no obvious rash

Hi everyone, I am curious to whether anybody has had the symptoms described above. I have this very annoying itch for a few days now. Previously I was occasionally itchy only, now it keeps me awake and distracts me from my work. I have a doctor's appointment next week but was checking to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar. Thank you!

you may have seborrhoeic dermatitis. Mine started with a really bad itchy scalp and also ears. It can form wherever your skin produces a lot of oil. Do you get greasy hair or skin?
I was told by my doctor when it gets very itchy to take an antihistamine and use alphosyl shampoo which is a coal tar shampoo. Alphosyl worked initially but it stopped working for me after a while and I now use moogoo natural milk shampoo. It is so good and the bottle lasts for ages. It takes about a week to work, but it is all I use now because as soon as I use other shampoo my head gets itchy and sore again after a week or 2.
Also instead of washing with soap or shower gel, try dermol 500 lotion.

Thank you so much for your response! My hair and skin isn't very greasy. But I am still going to try your suggestions. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to reply to me.

Hello again, I got the moogoo shampoo today and used it. I must say that my scalp is already less itchy. Almost not at all! I haven't got the dermol 500 yet so my back is still itchy, but I will look for that next. Thank you again for replying to me.

you could be allergic to a preservative added to a lot of shampoos and other products called methylisothiazolinone or a similar preservative from the isothiazolinones. These preservatives are added to all different types of toiletries, beauty products, cleaning products, baby wipes, sun creams, washing detergents and fabric softeners. Check all your products to see if they have anything ending in isothiazolinone, particularly what you wash and soften your laundry with because it could be what is making your back itch.
