I had to travel 20 miles to my nearest Asda but it was the best trip I have made. i have been using the cream for a week now and it has been the only thing that has worked. Thank you.

so glad it was worth the travelling and that the cream worked for you also it takes about a month to completly heal

What are the "ingredients" in the green and white tube's "first aid cream"? Thanks!

Unfortunately Asda have discontinued this cream. Typical!

I was cross when i discovered that Asda had discontinued the product but found out that Sainsbury's Antiseptic cream had the same ingredients and works as well as the Asda cream. Try it.

That's great news. Very kind of you to let me know, fingers crossed it works for me.

Could you be so kind as to tell me what are the ingredients in it? Just curious as there are so many other antiseptic creams around ( In case I don't find that specific one).

      Many thanks

      The ingredients are as follows:-

Cetrimide 0.5%, cetostearyl! alcohol! liquid paraffin, chlorocresol and purified water.

To be honest i didn't feel any benefit, infact it seemed to iratate more and made the itch worse. However what i used to clean it off seemed to really help. It's not a cure yet but for me the itching is no way as bad and somedays im itch free. You should give both a go and let me know which one works for you. The other product is Dettol with E45 Lotus flower replenishing hand wash. I use it every time I've been the loo. It's great, works for me.

Tony is right. The sainsbury's cream is not as effective as ASDA's was. But does some good. I got a prescription from from my GP called Fucibet but was told to only use it for 14 days. I am now on my third dose but dont use it all the time. It works but if I dont use it for three days or so the itching returns. The GP has been good enough to repeat the prescription but I dont know how long she will continue. It contains Fusidic Acid 2%w/w and betamethasone 0.1%w/w and about 12 other minor ingredients. I dont get any itching at all.

I also was prescribed a cream called Xyloproct Ointment, lidocaine, hydrocortisone acetate. I store it in the fridge and have only ever used it as a last resort, to help me get to sleep if the itching got too unbearable. It works great but i never considered it to be a cure and regular use is meant to thin the skin, which isn't a good idea. I havn't used it for a while now, since I stumbled upon the Dettol hand wash which has really helped. Most days im itch free but for no apparent reason i can think of,the itching occasionally comes back but not as long or intense as it was doing. It's a hell of a lot better. It makes me wonder whether it's something im eating or drinking that sets it off?

Some of these sound like they relieve itching, others (with steroids) are promoting the healing, but unless you tackle the cause, it's only going to come back. The anal area is a really sensitive bit of tissue, I wouldn't use products sold for use on normal resilient skin areas that contain loads of harsh chemicals, for too long. Causes can vary: diet, other medication or toilet hygiene. Wiping after going to the toilet too much is as bad as too little. I found a gel made specially for wiping with toilet paper (Angel) has really helped me. It contains fresh plant extracts and none of the dodgy preservatives. It lubricates when it cleans leaving you feeling really fresh.

    Hope you get relief!
