Itchy perineum 5 months - Cut like marks

Posted , 4 users are following.

I've had an itchy perineum for the last 5 months. For the most part it is only itchy at night, and when I wipe.

When I first saw a doctor, I went to a walk in and they suggested it could be worms (as I wasn't sure if it was my perineum or anus that itched).

I de-wormed myself and my partner and nothing changed.

I went to my GP, she suggested trying over the counter Thrush medication.

I also did a cervical screening and swabs.

Everything came back normal, and the thrush medication didn't work.

By the time I went for the screening and swabs it was roughly 2 months in to this itching, and I was swollen and there was two little cut like lines showing around where I was swollen. I'm not sure if she swabbed those lines for HSV or not.

Anyway, I returned again and was given Gyno-Pevaryl cream for thrush.

I haven't used it yet, but I've really been losing my mind that this is actually herpes.

I will attach a few photos below. The first is before any itching, the second around 2 months in and the 3rd is now (sorry it's shark week).

I am not experiencing any other symptoms.

      I did!

It came back negative, but I'm STILL experiencing this now. My doctor has given me a new steroid cream to try, and I've just done another swab of the area. She said she thinks it is some sort of Thrush or Eczema.

I was supposed to have results last week, and actually forgot until right now LOL

I will call tomorrow and see if anything came up.

I haven't tried the prescription yet, but a friend said to try a baby rash cream high in zinc. I have been using Sudocrem every morning and every night before bed and I think it's been helping!

You can barely see the little cut marks that were there originally, now. As I've been itching less.

I spoke to my doctor this morning and my tests all came back normal.

She has no idea what is wrong and said it seems like something triggered some sort of allergic reaction in September 2019, and because I keep scratching I am reinfecting the wound and continuing the cycle.

I'm now using the steroid ointment she recommended, and hopefully it helps ease the itch, which will allow it to heal and end the cycle.

She also said to try to avoid irritating it more; washing with only water, avoiding toilet paper (.. I'm skipping this one for now, although it DOES make it itchy!!), blow dry myself after a shower, loose fitting clothes .. etc.

I suggest trying toilet paper with witch hazel on it to cleanse then maybe blow dry to help with the itch.
