Itchy, red and swollen eyes and eyelids

Since march my left eyelid (in the crease of my eyelid to be precise) started to itch. It started off as a mild itch however over time it got worse. Towards the end of may, my right eyelid caught the itch and since then, they have gotten worse and worse. Now i have swollen bags under each eye which was NOT there before the itch. They have eventually turned red and now they are swollen. I have discovered that when a cold compress is on my eye, the swelling calms down but in the next few hours it swells up even more. I have been to the hospital and my gp several times, but i was fobbed off with creams, steroids and eye drops which don't work. I have been prescribed: diprobase, betnovate, optrex eye drops, steroid eye drops, hydrocortisone, aqueous cream and several other emollients. None of them work except betnovate which is a strong steroid not recommended for the eye however i had to use it. It calms the swelling down however I was only prescribed it for a week as if used for any longer, could make the skin thinner and could cause glaucoma if let into the eye. I have seen so many doctors and have had 2 blood test for any lacking vitamins and they have both come clear. I have a mild vitamin D deficiency and have been on a course of 1 tablet every week. I have had 1 so far and there is no difference. The itch is spread to my fore-head, the side of my right eye, behind my ears, in my scalp, on my arms, my chest, stomach and legs. Has anyone else experienced anything like this, has it been cured? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you actually seen an Ophthalmologist in amongst all the doctors you have seen?
You list several steroid preparations, which would all have the same effect of thinning the skin & causing cataracts.
Your Ophthalmologist could then refer you on to a Dermatologist if necessary.
Are you in the UK?

Perhaps you should chase up your Derm appt.. I know the waiting lists are long.
You could try going to somewhere like Specsavers, who can examine your eyes & also can refer you to your local Eye Clinic, where they would be able to help you.

Yes, in the next couple of days i will be visiting the Opticians and get their opinion on this, I haven't recieved a date for a dermatologist's appointment as of yet.
