Just noticed today mine itching to. Yes Hazel itching means it's healing. Not just on top but underneath as well. Another step on our journey. Onwards and upwards. Small victories. X

How long ago was your surgery?

Usually after it has all healed on the surface it may get itchy because it's dried up. You can also Google keloid scars which can be itchy because of an overgrowth of scar tissue.

Yes itchy means healing.... if you have had your stitches out try something cool on it,, I have used baby lotion, and moisturiser which does help.    If it is good enough for a baby it is good enough for my scars.

It could be a sign it's getting better.Have you been using moisturiser on it I used bio oil after a couple of weeks and that helped stop the itchING. Good luck xx

Mine is not itchy yet at day 7, I've still got a dressing on as there is a tiny bit leakage. I'm hoping the next one will be clear and then I'll leave it to the open air.

I have a bottle of bio oil waiting to manage in to help the scarring as I've heard it's good for that.

I've always believed that itchiness means it's healing but could be wrong

    Goid luck

Yes, I'm at 4 weeks post op and my scar still itches but I'm thinking it is dry skin. I had 30 staples that were removed 2 weeks ago and its been itching on and off ever since.

Itchy - I have always had itching post surgery, a packet of peas loosenned up, wrapped in a clean teatowel, for a little while seems to help me, other times sometimes something hot, as in clean flannel dipped in hot water, and rung out, its just a matter of breaking the itch sensation

i would be very wary of using any cream, oil, too early, you must be healed up completly no leaking othewise you could be introducing bacteria, my GP kept a very light gauze dressing on my scar after the first 10 days re-dress, until he was satified it had healed completly, about 20 days
