I know this was two years ago but on the off chance anyone else has this problem I want to share what helped (not solved) the problem for me. First make sure you don't have a fungus or something so check with your doctor. Stop using soap. I know this sounds gross but the Romans used olive oil when they bathed and just scraped it off. I had this exact same issue as you extreme itching. I scratched so much that I was often raw and bleeding. It was miserable. I started using a moisturizing cream ( I use Cereve) in the shower instead of soap. I used an exfoliating scrub to wash well rinsed then toweled off. Dried thoroughly and used a diaper rash type barrier cream such as Balmex. This barrier helps with irritation when you sweat and lessens scratching. When I do itch I do not use my finger nails but an exfoliating cloth it does less damage. I know they tell you not to scratch but I cannot do it. It is a vicious cycle so I try to minimize it. Frankly a good scratch is almost orgasmic but then it hurts and you find out you scratched off 2 layers of skin and are bleeding. Long-term you should loose weight. Fat people have this problem more often. I have not yet lost much weight. But my skin has become much better, itching is substantially less and I think I will beat this.

Have you had any sexual encounters in last few months? I developed red scrotum 3 months after risky sex.

No but your right to consider it. I don't know if it can be is a symptom of STDs. But I am sure that is not my issue.
