Itchy, sore, red vagina; what shall I do?

Around 4 months ago I had unprotected sex with someone I trusted. We hadn't seen each other for a while as it was long-distance, but before we had sex for the first time we took STD tests to make sure we were both clean. The results were positive, so we had sex without condoms (he's allergic) and I was on the birth control pill. However, after taking some time apart and having sex again my vagina became itchy half an hour after the intercourse. I assumed it was just thrush as I had it before. But then I found out he secretly had a girlfriend in his home country and was cheating on her with me. That probably also means he's cheated with many other girls carrying god-knows-what type of diseases. Anyway, the doctor said it was just a yeast infection so I took medication and it got better. However, it has been coming back every 3 weeks. I saw the doctor again who said it was most likely recurring thrush. But now my vagina is not only itchy and swollen with weird discharge; its also completely red with some sort of rash. It is not blisters so I don't think it's herpes. More likely some sort of bacterial infection. I have booked an STD test for 2 day's time, but I'm nervous. Do you think that it can be cured, from what I describe? Has anyone else faced a similar problem?

I had a similar issue . But my vagina was swollen and it had discharge like whiteish.. Almost like semen , and it had a fishy odor ., it could come down to anything.

a rash like that I've never seen

Does it burn when you pee ?

Mine doesn't have a fishy odor, it smells like yeast which is another reason why I believed its just thrush. The only thing that makes me question this is because 1) I have a rash which is not a usual symptom for thrush and 2) the symptoms started 30 minutes after unprotected sex.

      What was your problem exactly?

I had a BV... And I was taking the antibiotics but I didnt take medicine I was suppose to to treat the BV because I had already left the city when they called me about it prescribed the medicine .. I ended up taking the medicine 2 weeks later .

It wasn't nothing to serious but it was my first time ever ever ever to have a fishy odor and discharge .. like that one of the most embarrassing things I've ever been through , never even had a yeast infection before this, my vagina was swollen because I had used nair on it and it got all inside of me . So I was going through things with that. I couldn't wash all the way inside because I was in so much pain and it was so swollen plus in between all that me and my boyfriend had sex. Soooo it caused a quite complicated situation for me ,

Is the rash healing up ? How are things right now ?

    Hi Quintana101,

Recurrent thrush is a common problem for some women. Going off what your doctor has said it is most likely to be this causing the rash and unpleasant symptoms. The STD test will obviously clear this up for certain. There are a lot of STDs that can be effectively treated. I know it can be worrying to not know exactly what is wrong with you but try not to stress too much as this can sometimes exacerbate symptoms.

    Hope this helps.

Is it usual for thrush to cause a rash? I never heard of this symptom before. Also, is it usual for thrush to appear half an hour after sex?

Apple cider vinegar and cut as much sugar from your diet as you can, mines reoccurring too, no real cure just some home remedies, like I said acv... it's a God send for yeast infections (take with probiotics) and try not to sleep with underwear on, let it breath lol
