Have you been to your doctor ? I had the same type of problem so I went to my doctor and he gave me a rescue inhaler which opened my airway. Now I'm scheduled for a pulmonary function test. I guess I'll be diagnosed witH C.O.P.D..

I have a major problem with cool air. Just try to calm yourself down and try to breathe slowly. I know it's really scary. If you can't breathe though maybe you should get to an emergency room.

    Hey there.

I understand and can relate to you. My breathing has been irregular for about 6 months now. I take deep breathes and often yawn. I have come to learn that this is due to anxiety and stress. Are brains are over thinking and we are conscious breathing. I had an ekg, blood work and my doctor checked my lungs and breathing function and all was okay. My doctor stated the deep breathing was due to anxiety. I am on meds now and it is starting to get slightly better. With your anxiety I am unsure how much you panic, worried you are having a heart attack or dieing... well I breathe in and hold for 10 seconds and the breathe out, what I also do is grab my phone and google anxiety symptoms and start to read through them. This helps me because I know I am just having a panic attack. The question that I asked myself only a few days ago was... so I just suffer when I am awake and the answer was yes. So I suffer when I am sleeping. Do I fight to take a breathe or wake up because I cannot Breathe..

No! So this is telling us that it is not that serious. If it was serious condition it would effect us 24 hours COPD can be a serious threat how ever it comes with many more symptoms. I know it is hard and it controls your life and makes you feel like you want to scream I get it... I have started saying no matter where I am.. I'm not dying, you are fine, this is not serious!! I am trying to train my brain into understanding what I am telling it instead of it not controlling me!

You first need to make sure nothing else is causing it and see a dr.  If you know it's anxiety, I use several techniques to control that panic feeling .  First and foremost you need to distract yourself and stop the negative self talk that's getting your mind worked up.  The worry brings on the panic thats caused by adrenaline  pumping through your body that makes your heart race, you feel like you want to run or escape.  Your brain is being tricked as if you are in real danger.   You are not in danger, so relax and know this is just an uncomfortable feeling that YOU can make go away. There's all kinds of ways to divert your attention .  Google "tapping " for relieving anxiety.  There are adult coloring books for anxiety, use the Calm app, tickle your face , do cartwheels .  You can also google breathing techniques .   See a psychiatrist if you can't get it under control yourself . There are medications that will help you break the cycle. Mainly don't be afraid of it. It's just the adrenaline making you feel uncomfortable .  Calm yourself , no fear, no worrying brain, the adrenaline will stop.  Hope this helps.

    Hi

Anxiety is not uncommon with a lung condition. You can practice breathing techniques to calm you down.

pursed lip breathing, breath in through you nose, 4 seconds hold for 2 seconds and breath out through pursed lips like you are whistling for 6 seconds.

Do not concerned about seek medical help, I take Lorazepam half tablet twice a day, can go to if required.

I also use Oramorph 1.25 ml four times a day to help with the breathing.
