mar59164...There are a lot of complaints about Metropolol. I for one, didn't seem to be able to take it. It gave me such headaches, it scared the living cr*p out of me. Later on, my Dr. prescribed ATENOLOL...yes, another beta blocker, but the Atenolol didn't give me any side effects. My very trusted Pharmacist told me that Metropolol crosses the blood brain barrir, whereas Atenolol does not.
You didn't say how long you had stopped the Metropolol. You CANNOT suddenly stop taking it...it must be weaned.

Hi Mike
Oh no I started to taper two weeks ago I'm going in the week 3 now. I'm doing a 6 week taper I read up on that
My doc was going to cold turkey stop me
I made up my own schedule to taper off faxed it to her and she signed off on it
The people at the hospital that told me the charge nurse was going to call me to discuss those lab results never called I'm not surprised they don't care
I'm glad that other medication works for you but I refuse to ever go on any blood pressure medicine again and my blood pressure's are now stable the last two days thank God
I was on this medication since last May worst mistake of my life in terms of medication
I'm taking a little xanex to get through the anxiety part and it's helped at least Emma able to sleep now but I take very little of that
Good to hear from you

Hi Mike
I just got a call this morning from the nurse in the ER that handles all the results are any questions about it and she explained to me the ranges and why they don't come up on the copies in house I should've been given patient copies but somehow they gave me the staff copies but either way the ranges of both those tests are within normal ranges so that is a humongous relief now she stated that The medication I'm tapering off of is probably what's keeping my heart rate normal and blood pressure stable but I try to explain to her that for the most part my blood pressure is not that bad even though it's a bit elevated at times it's only off the charts whenever I'm at a medical appointment for the hospital so she truly believe that it is in fact the white coat hypertension versus actual hypertension Now I'm also trying to get my blood sugar streak is this medication has affected my blood sugar so that's another thing that I'm working on but I do feel much better about those results and they did apologize for not giving me the credit copies and what happened that night when they sort of left me in the room and I ended up walking out I never completed my stay in the ER because they just pretty much forgot about me which is pretty normal for that ER I have given him another chance hoping for better but unfortunately once I saw the doctor they completely forgot I was back there my monitor was beeping my IV went dry a whole list of other things so I just quickly got dressed left everything neatly stacked and walked out right past the nurses station it was making me more agitated to have to stay in there that long and Even the nurse I just spoke to agree that that particular night was not busy and there was no excuse for my being left in that room where the monitor BP nonstop and a dry IV so now I can only continue to keep tapering off this medication and it peers that it may be the MS this is creating this having although I do need to address an elevated A1C
You're all the best people herein this site
THANK YOU. I still have a ways to go on this Taber and I'm hoping things will go OK I have a few bad moments here and there but I'm moving forward with tapering off this medication and I don't want it replaced with another
