    Hi.

I had a Hysteroscopy a few months ago. I had worked myself up into a real state before I went and everyone I spoke to that had had one just wanted tell how horrible it was but do you know what it WASN'T. I won't lie. It's a bit uncomfortable but it is over so quickly. I was advised to take paracetamol and ibuprofen an hour before to help with any discomfort. The lady doing it talked me through what she was doing and I had a lovely nurse who sat and chatted away to me and before I knew it, it was over. I was told the findings then and there and had an opportunity to ask any questions. Try and take someone with you to chat to in the waiting room and for after but honestly the worry was worse than it being done and all was fine. You will be fine.

Do not under any circumstances allow themto do it witout general anaesthetic!! I had it and it was the most horrific pain ever - it is barbaric! I was screaming with thepain and 4 nurses were holding me down. I asked them to stop but they wodnt, jus kept saing, you're doing fine!! It took me hours to stop crying and the didnt find anything! Said my womb looked fine, even though I was told before AND recently that I hae fibroids and now facing hyserectomy.  One of the nurses came in to the room afterwards and actually said to me "I would never havethat done without ageneral!" Insist on it, its your body! I felt like a knitting needle had been poked through me right up to my ribcage. I really can't imagine anything more painful and it angers methat they still do this practice. Not long after mine I head a radio programme were women were discussing how bad it is, and certainly should never be done without a general! They also described it as barbaric. My last one was 12 days ago under general and that was fine.good luck x

I didn't have a GS and it was fine. Don't get scared by the horror stories. The lady that did mine told me she would stop at ANY time if it hurt and it didn't x

Hi, yeah I have had two children, one was c section.  Maybe I was unlucky with my consultant but even the nurse said she'd never let anyone do that to her! Like I said, the radio programme I listened to were calling for it to be a banned practice. Julie was obviously lucky.  I would never allow anyone to do that to me again. It was the worst pain ever and I have been through a lot! You can insist on a general and, in my opinion, you should xx
