Hi everyone ive recently been diagnosed with PCOS I have more then 12 cysts in my right ovary and 12 cysts in my left, ive been changed pill due to my old one I never had a period so they want me to have a regular period to see what its like... do cysts shrink or dissapear? Can it harm the baby if you fall pregnant? And what's the likelyhood of falling pregnant with that many cysts? Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

Cysts can burst on their own. I'm not a medical profession but I would imagine it would be fairly difficult to conceive with so many cysts on both ovaries, but hey, eveyone is different. I would go back to your GP and maybe discuss having an operation to blast the cysts?

Although I have cysts (mainly on my right ovary) pcos has effected my weight and hormone balance more than anything, as I said early, everyone is different.

    Good Luck Hun x

      Hi,

Thank you for your reply, is it a major operation do you know? I thought 12 sounded loads I didnt know you could have so many rolleyes my right ovary is apparently bulged out due to so many but my left ovary has stayed normal size and cramping so many in. I managed to lose nearly 3 stone but my weight has plummeted again putting half of it back on its so hard to lose weight. If you dont mind me asking what kind of action have you taken with yours hun?

      Thank you x

I've been up and down (mainly down). 7 weeks ago I started Slimming World (I completely cut out all the crap) and I only lost 9lb, I was so dissapointed! Some people say that kind of loss would mean the world to them, but considering I'm 19 stone 10lb I wasn't so enthusiastic! Took myself to the Dr's last week and she prescribed me Orlistat (for my weight) she said if I lost weight the pcos would settle/cure. My baby days are over hun so obviously my weight is my main priority. My friend has pcos and endometrosis she had key hole surgery to remove cysts and part of her right ovary (it was the size of a grapefruit). Doctors said she would need IVF to have a chance at conceiving, she fell pregnant naturally 9 weeks later!!

I asked the Doctor for the implant or pill and she refused, due to the type of hormone is has in it... so Orlistat is my only hope now rolleyes x

    Hi Hun

I'm in the same boat as a lot of people. I was diagnosed with pcos a while back. At first it didn't bother me as I wasn't ready for children then but now after 6 years of trying naturally I needed a bit of extra help.

Firstly I weigh over 17 stone (but I have lost 11 pound in the past 3 weeks at slimming world) and they won't let me have ivf I till I get my bmi below 30!! I was also proscribe orlistat but it didn't agree with me so I had to stop taking it. So by my calculations I need to loose another 4 stone 😯 lol. So in the mean time I'm on metformin and the doctor has just put me on clomed and I've jut completed my first cycle of that but no sign yet.  I don't ovulate at all because of my pcos so I was proscribed provera to make me have a period before starting the clomed. So now I'm just looking for that smiley face on my ovulation strips ... Fingers crossed.

I've not heard of having pcos causing any problems in a pregnancy as far as harming the baby so fingers crossed everything will be ok there.
