Ive been on Sertraline 25mg for 7 days I want to stop!!!!!!

I’ve been on only 25mg of Sertraline for 7 days and I feel dreadful. My main fear of taking this medication was the side effects and I feel I’ve experienced them all. I didn’t expect to have such side effects on such a small dose however because I never take tablets (hardly even paracetamol) does this make me more sensitive?

I’m planning on not taking my medication after today as I feel it’s making me much worse than I’ve ever been anxiety wise. It’s only 25mg for 7 days so withdrawal shouldn’t be too bad???

never quit cold turkey as it is advised online and by doctors that u slowly come off it and reduce the dosage over a period of a few weeks as i have looked at it and going cold turkey would make u feel worse then getting off them slowly as the withdrawl affect will make u feel sick and give u a headaches and make u more anxious and irritable and more read them online first and talk to your doctor and see if there is anything else u can take instead of them best of luck remember talk to a perfessional first as they will suggest the best option for you to quit ..

hi chloe, unfortunately this is the nature of the beast, they tend to make everything much worse before they get better, then they add side effects into the mix to make things even more joyful for you. You are half way through , the side effects should start easing up after 2 weeks, at 4 weeks you should see some improvement in your anxiety and or depression and by 12 weeks you should feel nearly back to normal, if you are on the correct dose. The alternative For you would be to give in stop taking the tablets and be back at square one but with dealing with the withdrawal side effects as well as your initial problems, I have a feeling though that you are stronger then this because you sort medical help and you came on here looking for advice. Speak to your dr tell them what you are going through, they be able to give you something to help you over the first few rough weeks. Hang on in there, stayed focused on what you want to achieve by being on this medication and trust in the fact you will get better, many of us have felt like chucking them in the bin but are oh so glad we didn't once we recovered.
