Ive been perscribed Levothroxine but theres nothing wrong with me

Hi I've been prescribed 50mcg of levothyroxine for a recently diagnosed under active thyroid.
I am a little bit surprised by this because there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with me.
Blood tests revealed a TSH of 7, Free Thyroxine of 16 & Thyroid Peroxidase antibody of 342
I feel completely fine and when my doctor asked me if I am suffering from any of the symptoms usually associated with hypothyroidism I felt confident in saying No to all of them.
Off course I feel tired every now and then and yes I could say I do get depressed (very rarely but for good reason like having no job!) but i'm fit and healthy. I exercise 3 times a week, I'm at my ideal weight, I'm not suffering hair loss and feel full of energy. I'm a 46 year old male.
I worried that if I start taking this medicine then I might unsettle my body and then start developing these symptoms?
Anyone else suffered a similar dilemma?
Any feedback will be appreciated?
What happens if I don't take this medicine?
Thanks

I have taken it for over 30 years and have a friend who is now entering her 40th year. my husband started on it a few years ago and is a new man.
My weight has always been 9 stone since I was a teenager, my husband is around 12 stone. Quite normal.
Without it your body will slowly start showing you all sorts of symptoms. if caught early you should feel fine and dandy. Low thyroxine levels can in some cases lead to heart and brain problems. Think of it as replacing a nutrient that you are lacking. It is totally safe and life saving.
There also is the advantage of being able to get free prescriptions for life! Not many perks left in our NHS these days.
Seriously though, think about it and give ity a go for a few months. You may be surprised how better you feel, even though you thought you felt ok originally.
Best of luck.

Hashimoto's is the no. 1 cause of hypothyroidism in the western world. Don't ignore it - the antibodies are destroying your thryoid gland so don't let it happen even faste.
Good luck

I have had various side effects and I contacted the pharmaceutical Company telling them of my side effects.
They were very interested and have asked for my doctors name and various other questions?.
I have sent them back an email and they have contacted me again, as they appear very interested in my side effects?.
So can I suggest to you all that if you are suffering bad side effects then contact by email the Pharmaceutical Company who will be in contact with you.
I had to take 2 months off work due to my job being strenuous which I was quite annoyed about due to the
side effects, but I seem to be getting better days now as opposed to bad days so I just had to be patient and wait even though I'm still suffering with pains in my legs and ulcers in my mouth and feeling the cold for some
Reason?.
So write to the Pharmaceutical company and maybe they can do something for us??.
