im 19 and currently enjoying life i have great friends and everything i could want but i have been struggling with what i think to be anxiety for over a year now, at first it never bothered me but slowly it has gotten worse over the time period to the point where every day i have to think about myself breathing, feel my heartrate, palpitations and other symptoms of anxiety and i cant seem to function properly anymore or ever be comfortable and i just want to be free from it and im unsure where to start or what to do, im not overweight, i wouldnt consider my diet or health to be bad. I dont have an explanation to why i feel anxious or get these feelings.

    Hi joe

To start with i think you should change your routine, it may sound silly but if you do things backwards you are taking

your mind away from what keeps bothering you up front . Try that first and your imagination will give you other ideas

    to try.

H, I remember those symptoms well, I was initially given Diazapam which did help but when it happened again a few years later my medical officer sat me down and explained what was happening. For a reason I cannot remember, he told me I was producing an excess of Adrenalin this causes the muscles to tense and other conditions that this neuro transmitter is designed to do. I had most of the signs and symptoms you have and although it may be completely different from what is causing your condition it may help to consider the steps I took.

Reasoning that adrenalin is used by the body to prepare for defence, fight or flight, then I worked it out that exercise would use up the adrenalin and allow my body to relax. This is exactly what happened. I began running cross country and exercising in the gym until very soon I was no longer experiencing those symptoms.

It may be different for you, have you consulted your GP it does sound like you should because it could have an affect on your heart, stress is a killer so this does need to be addressed. Whatever the case, exercise can only do you good but dont over do it.

I hope this has helped. Oh yes my doc diagnosed my condition, Tension.

My kind regards to you, Dave.
