Ive had colitis since i was 11, now 32

im on asacol foam enema and am symptom free since Sept 2014. A few weeks ago i was disgnosed with a chest infection which i then got pluerisy pain from. This is an ongoing sharp stabbing pain in my chest. Ive been perscribed anti imflammatories. Ive now noticed my appetite has decreased and i have the sensation i need to go to the toilet all day. It is mild, with no cramps, but i can feel it in my lower tummy and at the rear. Im not sure if this is related to my colitis as im still colitis symptom free but with these new bowel symptoms. Any ideas/suggestions would be massively appreciated.

    Hi Suzanne,

I would stop those tablets now, mixing anti inflams with your other meds can give you problems. I couldn't even take pain killers at the end as any sort of new meds in the mix made me ill.

    Hi Suzanne.

Anti inflammatory tablets are a def no no for colitis sufferers.i was told that tablets containing ibuprofen are like eating glass for us sufferers.

I take co codamol when things are bad...

See if they can give u something else.

    😊

    Good luck.

Hi Suzanne, I would suggest contacting your ibd nurse or Gastro Consultant and ask their advice about the anti inflammatory medication while you are taking asacol. When I was given some anti inflammatory medication (before my diagnosis of UC) I was also given medication for my stomach and was told anti inflammatory medication causes stomach upset.

I have proctitis and am having a flare up at the moment which makes me feel like I need to go to the toilet very often. I suffer with constipation also but avoid co-codamol at it can cause constipation.

I hope you're feeling better soon.
