i had bunion surgery a little over 3 weeks ago on my left foot and just over 7months ago on my right. ITS NORMAL to have aches and pains at that stage (at least it was for me) but crippling pain no. Your bones are supposed to be pretty much healed and ready to go at that point. my 3 month mark on my first bunionectomy i was able to start running anc get on the stairmaster. i had slight pain from swelling and under the arch of my foot but that was to be expected because i hadnt done any exercise on my "new" foot! ice and elevation even at that stage is inportant to keep up with because your moving around more. IF the pain your experiencing is extreme and if i were you, i would see my doctor. better safe than sorry.

i also had a bit of pain when i was in PT and they had me picking up marbles with my big toe and second toe to work on grip and bending at the joints. i had a sharp quick pain (it was like a shock or somone poking me with a needle) anytime the marble hit just right under my big toe and when i went to my doctor and expressed my concerns ( this was around the 2-3 month mark) she told me not to worry and that my pain was associated with my nerves waking up and still being sensitive. now being 7months in i haven't felt that pain since. questions for you: do you have all your feeling back in your big toe and running down the side of your big toe? is it only when you bend your big toe or when your walking too?

I hope your visit to the doctor went well and that you have been given some reassurance and are feeling better.
