Jas Brace

Hi there.  I just wanted to say how happy I am that I tried and am using the Jas brace (Joint Active System)  I started to use it after a manipulation May 4 brought me to 100 from 64 after surgery.  I started using it June 8th when I was 100 and not really moving, and yesterday, I was 116.  I haven't really heard of anyone talking about this on this forum, and I don't know if that is because alot of you are overseas, but it really seems to be helping me out, as well as me still going to Physical Therapy 3 times a week.  They say that I will be finished with PT when they get me to 120...but my goal is 125 or higher.  I am 61, and just wanted to share this with you. smile

I've never heard of it before!  Glad it's working for you. I'm six months post TKR and not achieved as much bend as I would have liked (120 . . ) or with a lot of pushing and shoving and ouch ouch! I have reached 130 (once!)  Wish I had tired this Jas brace!

That's great Suzanne. I was told about this but it's never been considered for me so far as my bend and extension are both bad (I believe this focuses on one). My surgeon does use this though as I saw someone else with one during his recovery. I go for my MUA and Adesiolysis surgery in 4 weeks so I think I'll mention it now I've heard how good it works. Thanks for the update, I'm so pleased for you xx

Kathryn, just so you know my brace wasn't covered by my insurance plan at Kaiser but I got it anyway because my physical therapist recommended it. I pay 250.00 a month to rent it. So worth it and I will probably have to have it a total of 2 months. So worth it to me. Your plan might cover it but it has done wonders for me, and I never hear it mentioned. Good luck! Let us know how you are.

Which country are you based?  Most on here state they attend physio classes, I wish we could here in england but we are left to our own devices.  Two days in hospital and discharged from a full knee replacement. Attended the hospital a few times for the physio guy to see what exercise I am doing at home and my bend, but its all up to little ol me.

Unfortunately in England it depends on which area you are in/hospital. I had mine done at a hospital with a specialist joint replacement unit and programme. A course of physio and gym classes are part of the recovery.
