hi Julie...you should ask for full blood tests if you have muscle and joint pain with ibs symptoms. I was wrongly diagnosed with ibs when I had an underlying auto immune disorder. I would ask for a review which includes looking at crp ana and esr which are inflammatory markers which can uncover if there could be anything else causing your joint and muscle pain. Good luck.

Yes I get pretty severe muscle pain and moderate joint pain that coincide with IBS symptoms. I saw Rheumatologist and he ruled out autoimmune disorders. I don't know what it is, it feels like a systemic inflammatory response to something but I haven't been able to narrow down any specific foods that trigger it, it seems to have a mind of it's own. I think it's more than IBS but my doctors either haven't helped or blatantly don't care to.

Thanks for your message. I have been on this journey since I was fourteen. Forty five years and it still scares me when I have new symptoms. Sometimes when I feel I'm dealing with a stressful situation my body think differently . I should be used to it after all these years.

sadly a familiar tale. Took me til I was almost 40 to be properly diagnosed. It is very frustrating but yes you get fobbed off a lot. Consider asking to see an immunologist instead for a consultation Steve. Might be more useful.

You can get joint and muscle pain with IBS although I don't experience this. My joint and muscle pain is chronic regardless of IBS.

No. But my Mum, her sister, and my daughter all had celiac's disease . My Mum and her sister both died in there early 60s from celiac related diseases. I have had the test but negative. But have similar symptoms.

are you an ibs sufferer or coeliac? pain in muscles could be exhaustion, malabsorption causes muscle pain.
