I have had two rounds of joint fusion surgery (same foot but different areas 18 months apart)) due to old breaks and osteoarthritis. Couldn't be happier with results. Listen to surgeon's instructions and you need to be patient as this type of surgery, results can take up to 18 months. The worst part is non weightbearing for 6-8 weeks. I highly recommend it and having a great surgeon and foot physiotherapist (Melbourne, Australia) helps. The long term benefits and results outweigh the discomfort following surgery. Patience is a virtue. A knee scooter is a must for the long non weight bearing period.
