A epidural steroid injection (ESI) is a minimally invasive procedure that can help relieve neck, arm, back, and leg pain caused by inflamed spinal nerves. ESI may be performed to relieve pain caused by disc herniation. smile

Oh my. I do hope you get better with the Operation. smile You've tried so many things already. Then its dangerous for you to drive you might get in a car accident. Let someone else drive. So many pills you've taked just be careful they didn't do no damage. Or the current ones you are taking. smile

Its causing you more pain. Its the herniated disc it presses on the nerve roots, and cause pain, numbness, and weakness in the area of the body where the nerve travels. Physical therapy, exercise and gentle stretching to help relieve pressure on the nerve root.

    Treatment includes

    >Ice and heat therapy for pain relief

    >Manipulation (such as chiropractic manipulation)

    >Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen or COX-2 inhibitors for pain relief

    >Narcotic pain medications for pain relief

    >Oral steroids to decrease inflammation for pain relief

    >Epidural injections to decrease inflammation for pain relief

I agree with you on the nerve totally . The medications I will definately have to try more . I can't take oral nsaids as I have a high acid reflux problem. But I take a profen gel which eases certain areas when rubbed in . Heat pads also help bit haven't tried oral steroids or anything else . Tramodol is totally useless
